First thing everyone will tell you is to do a search. This topic is covered atleast one a week.
Anyway It just depends on what you want. If you want a loud exhaust or a really loud one. I have a racing beat dual on my n/a. I love it, but it was a bit pricey.

To answer the 5th and 6th port question, it just depends on if you keep the cat's or not.

the 5th and 6th ports require backpressure to open, . You fix them open so it's just 6ports all the time, you would lose some low-end power though, and what I've heard you gain very little up top. But yeah, I'll tell you to do a search as well because theres alot of info already cover'ed on this subject.

the gain up top is not very little at all, it's like night and day. I believe somewhere on here there is a dyno with and without the ports and i thinks it's like 20hp. as long as you have your cats they will open fine. If you don't have emisions testing in your area then removing the cats will make your car louder and give a good amount of power, but you'll have to use an alternate method to open the ports. I have mine hooked up to a crown vic lumbar air pump, i flip a switch and they open great for me because i still have the low end with them off to make it up hills and for gas mileage. but with the flip of the switch i've got the power. I also have racing beat exhaust, it is pricey but well worth it. as for and intake no one actually sells anything but a fliter adapter and a cone filter, if you do this then i would recomend making a heat sheild or your own custom cold air intake (search to find out how). But after those mods you should gain some nice power in my 86 NA i ran a 15.2 with only those mods

The Bonez exhaust parts are good low-budget items that actually work pretty well. The more expensive exhaust systems are a bit better, but Bonez will work just fine.

The Bonez intake system is very good, and comes with a top of the line K&N filter. However, you can make the same system on your own for less money. If you don't want to deal with piecing together the system yourself, then the Bonez intake is a good idea. FYI there is no advantage in having a billet air flow meter adapter, and the less-expensive cast HKS adapter works just fine. Just avoid the crummy Ebay adapters that are poorly designed or made of plastic.

My racing partner has the Bonez catback, and it sounds pretty good to me. The Racing Beat catback also sounds good. The Apexi N1 sounds great on a TII, but is more raspy on an NA.

i cant find that dyno of open/closed ports comparison. does anyone have a link? i have a full header back exhaust and intake on my s4, with my actuators removed (they were both stuck)
the car is definately faster at lower rpm with the ports closed, but the butt dyno is confused when it comes to high rpm. i cant really tell if its faster with ports open or not...

Their is also a decently cheap intake on ebay, just to replace that ribbed rubber tube that isnt so flow friendly IMO. It would also eb a good idea to fab your own cold air box from flashing material and maybe run some type of tube to the front grill to get some cold air in there,

I dont know i thought my aux port's worked. Until one day i decided what the hell and wired them open ,hoo boy was i surprised i havent touched them since! Also i do not see any point in spending upwards of 200$ for an intake(like i did).If i would have know i could do it for under a hundred i would have. One last thing if you want good power and you are good mechanicly,do a search for porting uim and lim.

I have an "88 SE N/A. I just did a full Racing Beat RoadRace system & a K&N intake. It cost me about $1500 but I think it was well worth it. It was so pretty in the garage I felt bad puttin' it under the car to get dirty & it sounded awesome. Much quieter than my burned out Midas rust cans. U get what U pay for. There R a lot of cheaper options. My header had a tube for working the actuators. The ACV & air pump stuff goes away & also the stock air box junk. I did the whole job in my buddies driveway in less than 3 hours with no special tools or knowledge. One bolt on the exhaust manifold held me up a bit or else it would've been half that time. I have to keep those pretty cans nice & polished too 'cause they look great.

in my 87 N/A I had a full Bonez exhaust from headers back. It sounded gread and gave a noticable performance gain (never dyno'd so cant give exact numbers)however, after just two years on the car the mufflers and y-pipe piece were totalyl rusted through and the car needed to be replaced to pass emmissions *shakes fist at PA emmissions laws* and when i took the problem to bonez and asked for an explination i got no response

sorry to hijack, but as far as the lumbar pump with a switch to open the ports, does it really matter what kind of switch you use? I mean, you could just throw a toggle in there but I was thinking, how bout a steering wheel with the aux. "nos" buttons, wiring one of those to the 5/6 port pump

If I had that lumbar pump I would get an RPM activated switch (you can even use the shift light on a tach) to operate a relay to switch the pump on and off. Once you hit your set RPM the pump comes on and the aux ports open like an S5. In fact if you still have your belt driven air pump you can use it's air with a solenoid valve and skip the electric air pump. I know it's more money than switching it yourself, but it makes it completely automatic again.

mines an s5 so it works off the air pump already, but I was hoping to eliminate it
