Installing RB Downpipe + Presilencer - need help on something

When i bought my car it had an aftermarket y-pipe and cats all welded together, looks like **** and meant i had to remove the whole damn thing at once, not piece by piece. i recently bought the RB downpipe and presilencer, my car is an 88 N/A. now i lined up the DP and PS (bolted together for the pic) vs. the exhaust that was on my car, and it doesnt seem like its gonna fit... but i have one more "cat" left bolted on the car still, its right after the stock exhaust manifold, reason i say 'cat' is cuz its not much of a cat as i looked in it and its pretty much empty and gutted.

heres the pic comparing the two, notice how the hanger for the presilencer and the last cat are not lined up, which means, do i need to take the last 'cat' off from the car for it all to bolt up? last 'cat' shown below....

^^^ am i supposed so remove that last piece also? or is it a part of the exhaust manifold? but if i dont i dont think the downpipe, presilencer, and my catback will all bolt up right...

That last piece is the pre-cat the thing that the downpipe will be replacing, you absolutely need to remove it in order to install your downpipe, unless of course you like less power and an exhaust that digs trenches wherever you go.

You have to install it, otherwise you can't bolt the DP up. Simple as that. Plus its a piece of ****, take that off your car immediately young man

I actually had to cut the bolts off the damn thing, then tap them out and put new ones in when I did mine.

The purpose of the downpipe is to remove all the cats... Come on PPL!

the only problem I see is the cat back that you have. There should be a flange between the second cat (The one on the ground) and the exhaust hanger with the 2 rubber donuts. Looks like the previous owner (or muffler shop) removed the flanges and welded them directly together. To solve this, you'll have to measure, cut, and weld on a new flange to your catback.

If you don't have access to a welder, cut the pipe and hang the exhaust without connecting the catback to the RB silencer...then drive to the nearest exhaust shop and have them put a flange in for you.

Not always. The corksport 3"-2.5" dp is made to bolt up to a stock cat.

picky picky!

You're still removing the pre-cats with the downpipe, so I guess I'll reword my original statement: The purpose of the downpipe is ro remove the PRE-cats!

Also the Bonez downpipe will hook to a stock cat cat back... Well I have the bonez hi-flow cat and it bolts up thats for sure.

Those of us in California need that damned cat, more then ever.. well not the pre-cat but the regular one....

^ ugh just got home. WAY TOO MANY! like 15 in my neighborhood alone.

yea the previous owner was a jackass and pretty much welded EVERYTHING, including the long support arm that connects to the chassis with the help of 2 donuts (to support the y-pipe). Thats going to be a bitch to take off the old pipe... and yea, there isnt even a hanger for the old cat that i do have, when i was removing it, it just sorta hung there.
