they are knockoffs but they still look damn good, and if they're comfortable why would you want the real thing anyways? unless you care about being made fun of by 20 kids in a Rx-7 forum. I plan to get those seats this summer hopefully.

Only reason i probably wouldn't buy these seats (keep in mind, i haven't seen them close up and personal) is the quality of the fabric, and the stitching.. How do they look? Do they look like they will tear easily?

i wouldn't buy these seats or any other safty device off of ebay unless it's a name brand. i wonder how many peices these seats will be in when you get in a accident. personally i will only run eather stock or a racing sancion approved seat just for the peice of mind that when i'm going 120 down the front stright at a road course and something happens like i go into the grass and roll or go into a wall i know that i'll still be seated firmly in my seat.

BTW a local guy had some knockoff brand seat in his car and got sideswiped, he was fine but the reclining lock thing broke and sent the back of the seat to the rear seats... and he really wasn't feeling too well after that. and on the other hand my friend hit some black ice and went sideways into a tibiron at 70mph, he has a FIA approved momo seat and a autopower rollbar and his car was destroyed but he was completly fine and so was the seat (it's in his new car) or and btw sorry for my spelling today, it sux for some reason

Not driving your cars in the winter time is way irrelevant to the speculations of the seats.

I'm not buying these... I'm gonna bite the bullet and get some recaro's or something..

So are the fake mazdaspeed seats off ebay unsafe? Do they meet any standards? I really want to get them since they look good and people say they are comfortable...but if I get hit or something happens I don't wanna get fucked up really bad because of a seat problem. Any thoughts on how safe the mazdaspeed knockoffs are?

e-mail the guy and ask if they're DOT certified. That should be good enough. For autocrossing and stuff, there's another ceritification they need to pass.

i stumbled upon a really good set of oem seats that'd id love to fit in my FC . . .

you see recently my girlfriend went out and bought a 2000 Celica GT and those seats are factory . . comfortable as hell and look great and they have to be safe, they come in a production car . . .
my other option is RX-8 seats, but i can't find any with out airbags or leather . . . i like those celica seats much more than any of the racing seats available right now (and i dont race . . . soooo)
hope they fit if i get them . . .

I wouldn't buy a seat that isn't at least FIA tested. It's one of the only bodies that does crash test stress analysis on the seats to see if they're safe.

I'm pretty sure it's been determined that rx8 seats wont fit in the fc correctly. Something about them being too wide.
