installing new radio

searched and checked FAQ

i got a new deck since i got jacked last week. i want to know if the factory amps are powered by a 12v source, the white wire.

this is a quote from ICE in the FAQ. it states there is one wire to turn on the amp (white) is that a 12v power source? also i thought there were 3 stock amps, that should mean 3 power sources are needed correct? thanks

What are the wire colors for adding aftermarket radio
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear

The white wire is the factory amp turn on lead. It simply tells the amp(s) (depending on vehicle) that the factory head unit is on, and that they should turn on.

The white wire does not power the factory amps. That is done by the radio fuse.

And there can be 0 to 3 factory amps. Depends on options in the car. They are all turned on by the same white wire (and why wouldn't they be- you want them all to turn on if the head unit was on).

Have you looked at the FSM wiring diagrams? All the wires are clearly shown, and this will answer your question.

i seen the diragram (kind of hard to discypher), i was just wondering what i should hook it up to from the other deck.
these are the extra wire i have left over on the honda deck after hooking up speakers, acc, gnd, and illumi.

whats left...
illumi control
+B WTF this this?!

do i splice it to the any of these left over wire? or should i just connect it in with the acc, regular illumi, or ground? thanks

+B is your 12 volt positive input. That is connected to the Mazda Blue/Red.

Illumination control is your dimmer circuit. It is wired to the Mazda Red/Black.

If you do not have an amplifier output on your radio, then you would hook the Mazda white amp turn on wire to the blue/white switches accessory wire. The only draw back is you may have a pop sound; on turn on or turn off or if you didn't ground the radio correctly; a whine through the speakers (even when the radio is off).

You have two different lumination wires?? This must be an OEM Honda, or old old alpine???

No, normally there is just one. You might have to experiment with which one works for your radio.

On the old Alpine radios, you had two, one to turn the lights in teh radio on, and one to dim them during the nigh driving. If your unit is that way, then one will go to the accessory wire and the control would go to the Mazda Lumination wire.

Now some old Nissan OEM radios also had two, with one the 12 volts in for the lights and the other for the ground to dim them at night.

So I would try to hook up the first lumination wire and see if that works and ignore the control wire, unless you don;t get display lights.

yes stock honda accord deck.

so the regular illumi wire should light up when i turn the headlight switch?
and the illumi control should dim the radio light with the turn **** on the leadlight switch?

i looked on the back of the stock radio and there were 14 pins total from the two sockets. 6 pins were missing and i think the stock harness had 4 wires going to them. care to explain what they were trying to do?

thanks ice.
