Install (hub bolt and by-pass)

The FSM says apply sealant to the hub bolt flange, but my video only show vasoline. Do i really need sealant?

Also, I have a new by-pass and it has a small tit sticking out vs the original which is flush (see picture). Not sure I understand this right. FSM says to test, heat in oil gradually to 149F to verify at least a 0.2 inch protrusion. The new one is already protruding at room temp. ???

Thanks.......

Wouldn't this be similar to the oil pellet bypass mod?

I had to add a 6mm stack of 7mm washers to accomplish the same thing... http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/OTB/otb.html

The 'sealant' you need is locktite red. Not similar to Vaseline.

Seriously, you need advice from someone other than me.

I am familiar with the locktite requirement which I plan to use 'blue' instead of 'red', but I guess I didn't ask my question correctly now that I read it over again. FSM says apply sealant to the bolt 'flange', but this is the first time I've seen this. video shows using vasoline. So I was really curious on what is really necessary?

Just curious so I ran the FSM test for the bypass. In case anyone wondered the second picture is what it looks like after heating in a bath of oil to 150F.

I applied a small bead of sealant around the base of the threaded shaft, where it meets the flange. Hasn't let me down yet.
