Question injectors not firing???

Hi All, I stilll cannot get my 86 RX7 to run. I did the ATF flood routine, 3 times and I tried disconnecting the fuel pump wire. I'm getting good spark at the plugs and I can smell gas. A mechanic (but not really familiar with the RX) said he thought the top injectors were not firing. But I can smell gas, so can the top ones be working and the bottoms ones not. He also said he thought it was some module having to with the injectors. How can I check to see if my injectors are working and is ther a way to check the ECu to see if it is sending a siganl to the injectors?

If you're smelling gas while cranking, the injectors are probably working fine...

Sometimes when they flood, they're a PITA to get going again...Is the cranking sound normal, or does it sound like it still might be flooded?

I've always found it advantageous to inject a little engine oil into each leading plug hole, after cleaning & drying the plugs off for the 4th time, lol...Helps build the compression necessary to finally get her to light off...

Top injectors won't fire first anyway, at idle they aren't injecting anything. -- They do however come online somewhere around 3800rpm.

Anyhow, my guess is you're flooded like crap.

Yea,if the bottom injectors were firing but not the top, your car would still start and idle fine, because the injectors that spray into your engine (your bottom ones) are the primaries, the tops just kick in at around 3800 when under load. Do you have stock injectors in there or did you put bigger ones in?

it runs

It runs, it runs. It was actually flooded. I tried 7,8 times with the atf and then a couple of times with MMO oil and then I pulled the pump wire and turned it over for a few seconds, plugged it back in and it started firing. I did that 3-4 times and .......and it runs.. A mechanic told me I needed a new ECU because the top injectors weren't firing. Boy, I'm sure glad he told me he wasn't real familiar with the rx7. You guys and cwsttu saved me a ton of money

thanks to everybody that helped.
