Injectors with ECU.

I bought a Tii engine for a Tii conversion.

The thing is, is that I bought the ECU seperatly.

How do I know if the impedance form my ecu fits with my injectors? Because I have been told that in an S4 there was a low and high impedance set of injectors made...and I dont know what impedance my ecu is...

Is there somewhere that says which color of injectors go with which ECU number?

My ECU is 334 if I am not mistaken.

Thank you.

Nm.

RX7 Specialties answered me. They freakin rule seriously.

S4 ECU and injectors.

N332=Purple injectors= low impedance. 1986-87 and 4 first months of 88
N333=Red injectors = High impedance 8 last months of 1988

Put this in the FAQ please.

Sry, I didn't ask for S5.

Well, the ECU would be an N332 or N333 if taken from an S4 turbo car. The S4 turbo used low impedence injectors up untill about 87.5 The 88 and later cars ran high impedence injectors. The difference is that the S4 turbo cars which used low impedence injectors had a resistor pack in line. So, you can use either and N333 or N332 ecu in any S4 turbo car as long as you have the proper resistor pack in line for the lower impedence injectors if need be.

As far as the injectors go, both are 550cc for the turbo models. The S4 high impedence injectors have a red top with a square clip and an offset notch. They sometimes look a bit pink with age from heat. The low impedence injectors have a purple top with a square clip.

um sorry you are both wrong

from the FAQ:

86-87 13B Turbo, low square center, 550cc, tan, 195500-1370
88 13B Turbo, high square offset, 550cc, purple, 195500-1370
89-91 13B Turbo, high oval center, 550cc, purple, 195500-2020

WOW...

Well, shows how much I know! I was pretty sure that the 86-87.5 injectors were purple and the 88 and on were red. On my 88 they sure as hell did not look "purple" but I guess thats what happens with age and heat.

N332 and N333 ECUs are essentially interchangeable. Injector impedence doesn't matter as far as the ECU goes, what matters is whether or not you have a stock resistor pack in your wiring harness.

Exactly, thats all you need to know.

Other than the fact the the low imps were only for the first part of 87 and later 87's had high imps, whats wrong with that? It is a direct quote from the FAQ, after all.

Alright then.

Easier question.

I have a 332 ECU and Tan injectors. Will it work? Do I have to have a resistor pack? If so, where or what does it look like on the wire harness?

Sorry, reading the answers on the thread, things are not to clear for me.

Thank you

Look under the air box on the tire well. If you have a large silver box with wires coming out of it, you have a resistor pack.

Ok, now I know I dont have one.

So does the N332 RCU work with the Tan injectors?

Are they the same impedance?

Thanks!

N333 and N332 are interchangeable regardless of the injector resistance! the resistance is on the injector harness! search!

hahahh i said rejector

Last edited by Brody8877; Mar 21, 2007 at 04:24 PM. Reason: hahahh i said rejector instead of injector and insistence instead resistance.

He doesnt have a resistor pack. If he puts a 332 or 333 ECU in, and then installs tan injectors, he has mis-matched impedance.

He needs red top, high impedance injectors for that application, OR he needs to install resistors to the low impedance tan injectors.

Look at the attached jpg. I found two of these in the garbage can at work. They could not have cost more than fifteen bucks new Even the meter in the jpg works with a battery installed in it.

My suggestion: Buy one. New or used. It beats waiting for an answer on this forum. Time saved, money saved.

Up til chassis number 550168 low impedence injectors were used. Approx 2-3 ohms.

From 550169 and on they used high impedence injectors of somewhere around 12ohms.

That's what I meant by the words WRONG in another post above. Not a big deal, but the Real Deal.

That doesn't tell me the impedance of the ECU.

So which ECU goes with TAN injectors.

Thank you.
