Injectors?

OK I have an NA and i don't have any idea how well the stock injectors hold up after 18 years, i'm getting a fuel comp soon so i'm not worried about any issues with differnt injectors not working with the stcok ECU, I'm just wondering would I benifit from new stock or larger injetors? (are my old ones insufficient due to wear and age?)

you can send the old ones to get cleaned and flow tested, then you will know if they need to be replaced. Try this place.
www.cruizinperformance.com

Its cheaper than any other and they do the same cleaning and flow testing at $11 per injector vs other places that charge $25 per injector.

You do not need to upgrade the NA's injectors unless you're planning on exceeding ~250fwhp (i.e. big bridgeport). Just get them serviced as mentioned and you'll be sweet.

the best upgrade is getting secondary injectors from a gsl-se from 85, they are higher in fuel delivery and give you a little more umfff lol.

Wrong. Without some form of fuel controller bigger injectors will only give you less "umfff" and higher fuel consumption due to the mixtures being too rich.

What else do you need to know? You don't need to upgrade them and you most likely won't need to replace them. Just get them professionally serviced. If any of them are not up to scratch, they'll tell you.

There's no way of telling really if your injectors are bad unless you have flooding or take them out and check them.

It cost me $53 after shipping for Cruzin to do my injectors and they include a before and after flow sheet.

k soo they look awesome but how do they perform and was it worth the money? I'm just looking to get some more power, or lost power back, without craking open my engine as my compression is great

This is not done for performance, it's done to make the engine run the way it should and avoid potential serious problems.

The injectors were only flowing at about 525-531cc and two of them were dripping.. Now they are from 549-552cc with no dripping.

My injectors looked like total ***, I would reccommed to atleast get them cleaned/balanced. Its a small price to pay versus buying new or used.

BTW different model 550cc injectors flow different.

I have 5500 -370 or something and a -350 and the 370's flowed a few parts more than the others in a test.

Nothing totally noticable in a car but they did do a bit more.

Cleaning injectors is not for performance enhancement. It is to maintain the same flow.

If on injector is lagging in it's duty(aka dripping notflowing a lot) then your engine isn't getting an even/equal amount of fuel. It can then cause lean situations in on rotor or something.

Were they tested at the same pressure? If not they will flow different. Stock turbo injectors are rated at 550cc/min @ 250kPa.

Just here to inform you that the 19550-1350 are 460's and the 19550-1370 are 550's

This is from Lars Young, a reputable source of information: 195500-2010 - dunno

195500-1350 - 1986-87 non-turbo 460cc 1.5-3 ohm. Color should be brown

195500-1370 - 1986-87 turbo 550cc 1.5-3 ohm. Color should be purple.

This info came from TSB 033/87

Lars
The TSB can be accessed from ALLDATA.COM

And the colors fade and turn over the years. All the 1370's I have are more of a dark brown than purple.

I have the Flow chart at my house. If I remember to check this thread I can post the info.
They were tested all at the same time.

in a 100ml test they flowed like 93ml while the 70's did around 96ml

The colors for my 370's were purple while the 350's were red. Both have the high impedance notch.

VERY NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
