Injector/ harness question
Injector/ harness question
If i have a newer 88 turbo engine harness (red injector clips)
Is there a way that i could use the old injectors (purple injectors) on it?
everything in my 10AE is original minus the harness/injectors. Im trying to get it back to stock electrical setup (minus the emissions).
Thanks!

Therefore the early s4 turbos had a different system than the late s4 turbos, in terms of electrical.
When i bought the car I swapped the engine with a rebuilt street ported engine, and i used the harness that came with the newer engine. Both the original system and the one installed were s4, However the previous one had the purple injectors/injector clips and the one CURRENTLY installed had red injectors/red clips
as a matter of fact i made a post like 2 days ago asking that very thing go to http://injector-rehab.com/shop/connectors/ where im gonna be buying my from unless i find a better place
More info would be needed, high impedence, low impedance, s4, s5, etc. I had to scour my town for s4 clips. Autozone and the like only had one in stock each. Id try naps first though.

The injectors that originally came with the car were
88 13BT high square offset 550cc purple 195500-1370
Im currently running the harness with the red clips (late 88 turbo harness) with the N333 ECU.
Now from what i had learned that should have worked fine without any further modification.
Whats happening is the engine is getting entirely too much fuel, to the point of smoking. I have perfect compression, no overheating, no internal leaks and the engine was just rebuilt
the only thing i could narrow it down to is bad OR wrong injectors.
would a variation in resistor packs make a difference between the early 88s and late 88s?

no, i would check ur fuel pump also...u say emissions is deleted.... there's your extra fuel..it starts? after like 8/87 there were no more resistor packs...resistors and all sorts are out the window...see how much voltage your getting on the fuel pump...if u cant start it cause is flodding just work away at it while pulling the egi fuse to deflood it...other than that im out of thoughts.

the switch was done in middle of the 1987 model year.
also there is only 1 resistor pack. the resistor is about 6 ohms (off the top), and since its in series the resistance of the low impedance injector + resistor pack = about the same as the high impedance injector. since V/ohms = amps, the load on the ECU is the same weather its got the high impedance injector, or the low impedance with the resistor pack.
so the ECU's are interchangeable from 86-88. but the harness+injector+resistor or not need to be a matched set.
