Injector/fuel upgrade question
Hey guys, I'm sure this has been posted before, but I tryed the search and didn't find what I am looking for. I want to upgrade my fuel system on my '90 TII. I am not looking to create 500 hp or anything like that. Once I get the fuel system to what I feel is adequate I will boost the car up. What is in your best opinion the best upgrade for the fuel system, injector size, obviously a walboro fuel pump, do i need to run a stand alone, etc. Thanks.

heres what im currently doing for my fuel setup:
Walbro 255 fuel pump
1300cc.com fuel pump re-wire mod
Rtec 1.7
Marren 750cc secondary injectors
wideband
if your going to up your boost, you'll need to port the wastegate...lots of good info on that if you search the 2nd gen forum's.

You kinda need to go the other way with injectors. First find a power goal and then go backwards and find how much fuel you will need to supply that goal and an adequate way to control that fuel. Search through the single turbo forum and look at what other people are running for their power levels.

OK, so what are you looking to create then? The required fuel injectors, line size, and pump flow rate depend on the power goal.
Er, not so obviously. I have an Essex (SX) pump in my coupe, and other common upgrades include Bosch, Aeromotive, Barry Grant (BG), Mazda FD, and Mazda Cosmo, and then there are less-common pumps like the Supra MkIV, Accel, BBK, MSD, Mallory, Edelbrock, Paxton, etc.
I recommend a standalone EMS to anybody who wants a better-tuned engine and has the money to buy both the EMS ($1,000-$10,000) and professional tuning ($500-$2,000). I do NOT recommend a standalone EMS to anybody who doesn't know what they are doing and thinks that owning a wideband AFR gauge and watching Fast & Furious 3 times automatically qualifies them as a tuner. The stock EMS is not so great by today's standards, but it has been proven to run engines up to about 400hp with fuel and ignition computer add-ons.

The Red Suns decals are for the Motec exhaust tuning knowledge.

Haha lots of funny stuff. Ok power goal is 320 HP. I don't like the F&F movies so I may have watched them once. I probrably wouldn't want a stand-alone, and would just get it tuned properly. Thanks

Your total fuel requirement will be somewhere around 3000cc/min. A pair of 1000cc secondary injectors should work with the stock 550 primaries. If you want to keep all of the injectors the same size, you could use 4x750cc injectors. A Walbro or Bosch in-tank fuel pump should work fine. A nice aftermarket fuel pressure regulator like the Aeromotive 13109 will greatly aid tuning by providing a stable fuel pressure.
