injector cleaner

Has anyone ever used Lucas injector cleaner? Is it any good? Any other suggestions?

My '91 vert is stalling after it warms up, then it is hard to start, like it is flooded. It starts and runs fine until it is warm.

I'm going to replace the o2 sensor, but I also want to try this stuff.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I used Wynn's Injector cleaner, change your spark plugs after you go through a tank of fuel though.

Sorry not sure on the stalling problem.

So it sputters & cuts off after warming up? That sounds more like:

- fuel filter (last full tuneup was when)??
- grounding
- timing
- spark, spark delivery, spark creation

Hot starts are when you shut it off manually & restart, so this may not be injector related. My injectors are fine @ 125K miles, but I do buy gas mixed with detergent cleaners

what he said, if you are looking at high mileage i would definately say do the regrounding on your car (can be found at the top if the archives), and of course full tuneup.

As for injector cleaner ive never heard anything bad about seafoam. Recommended by most of the ASE master techs i know.

Not sure when the last tune-up was, I just brought the car in Nov with 72k. I know it is suggested to replace o2 sensor at 60k, I'm doing that this weekend.

Does anyone have a link for complete tune-up items?

I did spark plugs, it helped a little but it still happens.

Fuel filter looks very hard to get to, looks like it has to be done while the car is jacked up from under the car?

I'll read about the grounding problem.

typical tuneup (at least when i perform one) means plugs, wires, belts, oil, coolant flush, filters, and any sensors that look borderline. I try to perform one every time i get a new car, but that doesnt always happen. Just remember everyone out there selling cars changes their oil 'every 3000 miles'.

Use MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) as your injector cleaner, (You can get it at Kragen/Auto Zone etc.) and 2 Fill-ups after using this, my rough idle was rock solid at 750.

Yes you will need to jack up the car, only driver's side though.
go to 1300cc.com, it's a wonderful site, it has a walkthrough for the Fuel Filter. Just make sure you don't get gas in your hair, took me hours and half a bottle of shampoo to wash it out.

I use Marvel Mystery oil as well.
In both my oil and gas(once in a while in gas)

The MMO should help clean and lube the engine at the same time.

I would be careful with other additives. They've made my car run hot a few times.
I'm not positive on this part but some may not burn as well and leave more carbon(part of the synthetic oil debate).

Look in the FSM under 'Predelivery" for maintenance schedule. It's a good idea to do a tuneup on any used car unless the PO provided previous maintenance info.

How much MMO do you use? One bottle for a tank of gas? Then run at high RPMS everywhere for that tank (to make sure secondary injectors are on)?
