Infinity III?
Some friends and I have found ourselves addicted to this racing sim called Initial D. Put in some coins, pick a car, race, get points, mod ur car, put in some more coins, and get a card with all the car info on it, us this card and more coins to race again. The car I've chosen is a FC3S of course but it is designated as an Infinity III. Can someone tell me what the heck this is? Is it just another name for another certain FC? Does it have any special qualities? Any info is appreciated.

lol strange question. I know they have an infini I-IV however I thought the three was on a 1st gen. The infini IV was only in japan and had a few extra horses with no a/c, racing seats, wieght reduction, front tower bar, better exhaust (gives it the added 15 horses IIRC) also had 16 inch bbs rims. If you do a search for infini IV you will see the differances.

yeah I never read anywhere that it had a larger turbo. I just read that it had a better more free flowing exhaust witch aloud for a higher turbo spool resulting in higher hp numbers.
I don't believe that picture is an Infini 3 (NOT INFINITY) I am almost certain it is an Infini IV, the III's were S4's that is an S5 and I thought at least that the III's were white whereas this car is the Infini IV only winning green or whatever, that is a mix of black and dark forest green.

I would buy them and then spray paint the "Web" part red and leave the polished lip. Just so see what you guys would say
If I remember correctly, the Infini Versions I-III were known as Savanna RX-7's, and when Mazda made the Infini IV they dropped the "Savanna" designation. I believe the car shown is an Infini IV because of the markings. *Drrooooooools*

I've been searching and so far I have only come up with this:
1. Infinity 1-3 or I-III were known as Savannas and this was dropped for the IV.
2. It was a step up from your "avg." TurboII.
I'm still looking for a site that gives detailed specifics that made this car special. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS-sorry if this is just taking up space on the forum due to a game but it continues to eat at me that I dont know everything I thought I did about FCs. The more I know the less I'll ask.

I dunno why you guys get damp knickers over the Infini cars. They were less "modified" than most of the TII's on this forum. Getting excited over 16" wheels and a 15hp exhaust system completely baffles me. It was a nice car in it's day (15+ years ago) but jeez...
dude, infini lol. my buddys have spend about 100 dollars on initial d ...arcade game. i don't play that ****, cuz in the end you only have a card with about 100 dollars that u spend or even more in there, and have no reall driving experiance, don't be like my friends that say if ur good at initial d, ur good at driving lol...my ***. ok latez
That game has got to be the most unrealistic driving game ever. Let's turn the wheel all the way to the left and not spin out! We'll just bump into the wall instead with no damages! haha Other than that, I guess the game is a bit fun to watch when you see those people that have put in about 500+ hours on the game. I wouldn't waste my money on it though. I'd rather drive the 7 in real life. ^_^ (Not dangerously drifting of course...)

The real scoop on the I/A/Enfini III from pg 113-114 of Brian Long's "RX-7: Mazda's Rotary Engine Sportscar", Veloce Publishing 2001, Dorchester UK.
"Meanwhile, in Japan, on 16 September 1989, the GT-X based Anfini III went on sale. The biggest news was a 10bhp increase in power, taking the total to a healthy 215; maximum torque output had also increase, from 199 to 202lbft, despite the engine having the same compression ratio.
The Anfini II feature a Torsen limited-slip differential, and the familiar BBS alloys, but now 7Jx16 in size and shod with Pirelli P Zero 55-section tyres. Suspension bushes and shock absorber values were changed once more, a strut bar was added, and a larger brake master cylinder was adopted, along with new pads. Inside, there were new bucket seats, kneepads, and a leather-trimmed Momo steering wheel. Limited to 600 units, it was priced at 2,843,00 yen. Having recorded a 14.6 second standing-quarter time, and been generally impressed with the changes, Car Graphic described it as "wasteful" that such a small number were being built, convinced that demand for the vehicle would far outstrip supply."
