Exclamation Important question????

I just bought 17 inch rims that are 7.5 inches in width. if i put 215/45R17 tires on them will there be inuf clearence for the tire when im steering???in the front iner wall part??? And the 45 series does that mean the width of the tire or the hight from the rims??? Thanks

Go to tirerack.com and all the numbers on a tire is explained in detail. Will they clear, Dunno.

yes, clearance will be fine, assuming the offset on your rims is correct.

for 215/45/17 Z
215= width at tread
45 = aspect ratio ( height = 45% of width in this case)
17= rim diameter
Z= speed rating (T=118 max, H=130, Z= greater than 130, although there are now more ratings, if you do a search you can find them all)

Well i thought that the clearence would be fine so i bought them and they where a good deal. But thanx if anyone else has an opinion on the subject please do tell.

offset is the distance from the place where the wheel hits the hub to the center of the wheel. in other words, its how far the wheel 'sticks out' stock for a rx7 is +40, meaning that the wheel is 40mm in from centered.

I talked to the guy i bought them from and the guy he got them from had them on an rx7 so my quest is over thanx guys.
