im screwed, what do i do?

well, its the end of the month, and the cops were out in full force tonight. Driving through one town to go to the movies, i got pulled over by a trooper and the dick gave me an exhaust ticket. I even showed him the silencer and offered to put it in, right in front of him, but he still gave me a ticket cause hes gotta meet his damn quota. I dont care how many people deny that, cops have a quota, thats why they give you stupid **** like that at the end of the month.

So then, about an hour later, i get pulled over AGAIN, on my way home. I had the silencer in this time, and its really quiet. So this town cop walks to my window, and says my exhaust is too loud. I laughed at him, handed him the ticket i got an hour or so ago, and told him its not loud at all. I told him to go pull over the Beretta that just drove by with that shitty Chevy wail, cause it was louder than my car at the moment. So he decided to write me a ticket for no front liscence plate.

So, i have to show them that i fixed my exhaust or whatever the hell. what am i gonna do? The law says i cant have any removable device which makes the exhaust louder. so if i just show them that i have the silencer in, are they gonna make me put on new exhaust? And if they say its unnaceptable, what the hell am i supposed to do? I really want to tell NYS to shove it up their ***, but its probably gonna get me in more trouble.

We'll see if the police benevolent association gets a donation this year, ******.

the only problem is, putting on another temporary exhaust system is definitely not in my budget right now.

hey just go by an exhaust shop and pay them an extra 10 bucks to say you got a new cat or exhaust, I got the same ticket hear in Texas we need to get this exhaust bill federalized.... hear goes.....

SHALL NOT BE A VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION UNLESS PROVEN BY PROPER
AUTHORITIES THAT THE EXHAUST SYTEM MODIFICATION RESULTS IN NOISE
AMPLIFICATION IN EXCESS OF NINETY-FIVE DECIBELS UNDER THE PRESCRIBED SAE
TEST STANDARD.

A COURT MAY DISMISS ANY ACTION FOR WHICH A PERSON IS PROSECUTED FOR
OPERATING A VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION IF IT IS FOUND THAT THE

You'll find cops go even harder at the beginning of the month, rather than the end of It to meet their quota.

Same thing happened to me too. I didn't even "repair: my Exhaust. And when I went to court, they asked me If I repaired my "leak". I told them I did - case dismissed.

So basically, get certification that your exhaust doesn't emit more than 95 decibals from a shop and show it to the cop.

I'm glad we don't have to deal with this in Georgia.

heh... man that sucks... up here in canada we never get that crap... but i cant agree with that quota. My uncle is an rcmp officer.... he hardly ever writes anyone tickets. and that exhaust ticket...dont bother paying it. just go to court and tell them you got the problem fixed....they'll let you go free

Just go plead with the proc. and tell him/her that its a bull **** ticket. For small things like that they usually just drop them.

I had the same situation, so this is what I did:

Go to a mazda dealership and buy an exhaust gasket for the y-pipe and KEEP THE BILL! The next day, go to the police station with your silencer in. Go inside and show them the bill for the new gasket, and tell them it was a leak that caused the noise. Usually this will be enough, and they'll just say thanks. If they want to hear it, you have the silencer in.

Chances are, with the "proof" that there was something wrong, and you fixed it, they will let you go. As long as you are nice, and tell them how much quieter it is now. Hey, it's worth $5!

yeah i just had a mechanic/friend fill out this form that said he fixed it and i sent it in to the court.

funny how ive been driving by cops the past 2 days with no silencer in, and they havent even looked. There's definitely a boost in tickets at the end of the month. Any ticket ive ever gotten was at the end of the month.
