Did you put a kit on it or was that "all natural" gas to burn

I usually pop them off above 5k depending on how hot the motor is. That's pretty small flamage for an N/A. I have video of 4'ers I just need to get it on the damn web....

45 is my autocross number. Have some 1/8 mile times from before the rebuild when it was running hot and all that...not terribly impressive. Ran like a 9.2 and then the leaking coolant line popped and left me stranded. It feels like a different car now

Just curious
if the exhaust is shooting flames that far out the back, whats to stop them from also going the other way and frying the turbines on the turbo, or even worse firing back into the engine? Its always been my experience, that flames are a bad thing.

I was saying that those would be rather weak flames if it were an n/a. I should've rephrased it.

Very nice pic though. on my video the flames ended up being 3 frames long at 30 frames per second. or 1/10th of a second long. I'm thinking you took this off a video.

That's a incredible pic! Looks like something you'd see in National Geographic. (they're particularly fond of exposing for a period of time)

Sweet pic man, those flames are really concentrated like a blow torch or something, just don't do that in a gas station J/K

Generally they are not flames in the exhaust. There isnt enough o2 for the gas to finish burning, so it travels w/ the exhaust out into the atmosphere (where there is o2) so it lights up. Generally running rich (makes flames) runs cooler than running lean.

i'm getting a full exaust from the exaust manifold to the mufflers out of 2.25" tubing and some "Fireball" mufflers off ebay for my 87 GXL. will I get flames? do they shoot when you downshift or something or when you let off the throttle?

Hmmm.. could the 720's without fuel control make the engine run a little rich?

Looks like it to me...

COOL as hell though.

He he he: Showed the pic to my girlfriend:

Leah says:
sweeeeeeeeeeeeet
Sean says:
you like that eh?
Leah says:
I gotta admit that looks pretty cool
Leah says:
so THAT's what makes RX-7's so cool. do no other cars do that?
Sean says:
Not really. Damn exhaust valves get in the way.
Leah says:
so.... up for a top speed run anytime soon?
Sean:
I love you.
