i'm confused about the air pump

i have an 89' gxl, i just installed my full catless exhaust. and i dont have emissions testing in Florida

i hear two different things:
1. i can remove the air pump, because it wont do anything now
2. i do need it still to open the 5th&6th ports

can someone please clear this up for me

ps: i've searched

You have an s5, so you still need the air pump to run the aux ports. On s4's, the sux ports run on exhuast backpressure, so they don't need the air pump.

Since you have a full catless exhaust your auxiliary ports probably aren't opening anyway, and definitely opening too late if they are.

The catless exhaust wouldn't matter since he has an s5, only s4 runs off back pressure from the exhaust.
