Question if you remove the omp rod will that completely stop oil flow to the engine?

can someone tell me if this is true or false, i have disconnected the rod from the throttle but i havent removed the omp or oil lines. i have been searching the forum and internet to find out exactly how the omp works. all i can come up with is the lever controls how much oil is sent from the omp.

the more you step on the gas peddle the more oil gets injected but thats all i found out. i wanna know when the lever is at its down position is there any oil flowing into the engine?

can anyone help me with this?

wsup dude. Heres the deal,i work on boilers and they have omp's also. They way it works is when that lever moves,it allows a certain amout of oil to pass. The lower the bar, less oil,the higher the bar, more oil.If its all the way down it will NOT pump ANY oil at all.I would recommend putting it back together, unless the omp is shot and ur going pre-mix.
Hope this helps.
If u need a better explanation shoot me an IM @ hahamyrx78urvtec

Dude, your car needs that run properly. Unless your running a pre-mix in your gas you are being determential to engine life

thanks hondah8rrx7luvr

its ok guys, im running premix. i use 16 ounces at every fill up.

i just wanted to be sure its not metering oil with the rod removed, cause if it still does im gonna yank it out. well eventually im gonna yank it out anyways but i thought disconnecting the rod might be a good temporary fix.

its recommended to use 1ounce to every gallon of gas when your not using the omp.

Talking im happy

what a difference disconnecting the omp rod did. it feels a little more responsive.

when i had the rod connected the engine would bog a little when ever i let off the gas and push the clutch in. it always bothered the crap out of me. the rpms went down to 400 rpms or so. my thought is that the omp was putting to much oil in the combustion chamber and not letting evreything burn up. thats why my plugs had all that caked on residue.

its to early to tell if it will cure the plug fouling but i can tell a difference already as far as drivabilty. i dont get that bog anymore. now the premix should clean things up a bit in the combustion chamber, i hope!
