Idles at 4000 rpms, popng noises, engine shakes
check and see if something is holding your throttle plates open.. throttle cable way overtightened/binding on something/SOMETHING.. a car should NOT idle at 5000 RPM.
Maybe he meant 500 RPMS? If it's popping and shaking really bad, I'd venture to say that he could have a blown engine. I know when my engine popped, it exhibited all the symptoms that he's describing.
Here i'll be more specific....
I turn the key.. (starts), RPM gauge rises to 4 Rpm's, Then Slowly goes Down to 1Rpm's ( it takes about 1 min approx) Engine tends to Shakes every 2-6 sec. (It almost looks that its about to Stall but doesent)..
ey guys i can send you a detail Movie its just i dunno how to paste it...

The automatic revving after you turn the key is the cold emissions assist. It is very bad for your car to be revving that high when cold. To stop this from happening start the car in first gear. Not sure about the shaking though.
