Won't stay running

Just when I thought all was well, today the 88 vert's idle "bounced" and kept stalling with foot off the gas, AC on or off.

Finally the AC fuse blew and the idle was fine.

Any thoughts?

As far as I know, the only electronic device on the A/C compressor is the switch that powers the magnetic clutch. The pulley spins all the time, but when the magnetic clutch is energized, the plate is pulled against the pulley. The plate spins the shaft which spins the compressors pump. Sounds like there is a short in the compressor's clutch or a mechanical problem with the pump to where the magnetic clutch would not release until the fuse blew. If it was a mechanical problem with the pulley, the problem should have stayed, even after power was removed. Thats all I can think of based on what I know of the compressors operation.

Things on that fuse that I know of:
The power for the clock
The AC clutch itself
The Ciggarette lighter

Mirrors too on that fuse, but what would make the idle bounce and then die with foor off gas??

Here's the latest. They said there was a short at the fusebox and the TPS and base idle needed adjustment.

I was told last week that the low freon caused the fuse to blow, as designed, and that I needed to convert the AC to 134A to have it reacharged, which seems false.

Does anyone know if the AC / clock / mirror fuse is designed to blow if the freon is low? Or was I hosed?

Thanks

Hah, these "Conversion kits" are a plastic bag with two hoses, and a new filter. In other words, useless. Just grab some 134a from the store and fill it up yourself. Its basically the same stuff, for the same job, and it mixes fine with no adverse side effects.

I don't think the fuse is design to blow when there is low pressure. Too high or too low of pressure should override the compressor on signal.

Seems fixed, Stephan at Cartek splained it to me... was the compressor, laboring to the point of blowing the fuse. Also, cooling fan clutch was bad so he pinned the fan to turn faster.

We'll see.

Now only problem seems to be it won't go into reverse.

hahahahaha
