Idle jumpy and the rpms are jumpy at mid range rpm's

Well my idle goes up and down my about 200 rpm and when i put the gas on and hold the rpms to 1500 it still jumps!!!! This is when the car is warm too...Also i cant have my foot kind of on the gas pedal because the car will start bucking (any rpm). I have to either push on the gas a little bit on take my foot off the gas. I cant stay on one constant speed or it will start bucking.

I was thinking that it might be a dirty fuel filter. what do u guys think the problem is?

Possibly a vacuum leak. Which no doubt will do this.

well i have only had my car for a week so far and havent had a chance to change too much yet. I have listened for a vacum leak but i didnt hear any.

Yea i will try the tps but i dont really know what to do. So u take the top intercooler filter thing off the top of the engine?? and then ..........

the threads i have read havent been too much help so far about tps.

never mind fc3s-pro.com has a good article on it.

Get a can of WD-40. With the engine running, spray it all around the manifolds. If the engine revvs, it is pulling the stuff into the intake through a leak. $5 says it is a misadjusted TPS....Mine acted the same way till I dinked w/ mine.

Buy a TPS at mazdatrix or whatever. Adjusting them can easily bust them. If you bust them, the car will be down until you buy a new one.....

I've seen on here that a properly adjusted old TPS is no match with a brand new TPS.

I have adjusted my TPS, and never busted it. If you break it by adjusting it, you are probally doing something wrong. Don't buy one from Mazdatrix, in my own experience, a properly adjusted TPS is just as good as a new one b/c you still have to adjust the new one after you put it on the car!!!! I do not understand why you are removing the intercooler to get to the TPS, it is on the front side of the TB, and you can get to fine with the intercooler on. With the intercooler off, there is a hugh vaccuum leak, so no, the engine will not run. Put the intercooler back on, and try again!! It may also help to remove the negative battery cable, hold down the brake pedal for 5 seconds, and reset the ECU.

HAHAHAHAHA!! Ok, ok. You can try and plug the vacuum line, but no guarantees. The best way to adjust it is with the engine together completly, and at operating temps.

Adjust it with a voltmeter or code puller anyway. Don't do it with the car running.

gotta love that TPS

It is your TPS and your mid range rpms are probally the 3800 rpm hesitation 10 minutes fixes both those problems pronto -Gabe Medo
