Idiot Lights Question (All Always On)

Yesterday I was driving very normally then stopped to make a right hand turn. For some reason all idiot lights went on in my car except for the parking break, but including the "shift up" light. Everytime I have started the car since then, the lights stay on. Not quite sure where to start diagnosing the problem.

sounds like your alternator is failing or the wiring to it has.

what does your voltmeter on the dash say? (that is if you have a non turbo... you didn't say what sub model or year

1987 TII RX7. That would explain why my dash lights and headlights get dimmer and revs go down when I press the brake pedals?

yep.

Get a digital multi-meter and check the voltage while running if you want to be sure.

I have the same problem with all my idiot lights going on. But two things i found interesting is that. Over 4 grand the lights would go off (i guess that probably due to the alternator getting more power). The second thing was that everytime i put the cluch in it made this clicking noice sounded like it was comming from the right front speaker, or somewhere in that area. I don't understand this. Also if this is my problem. Is the solution just to get a new alternator? Also what are the odds of me going to the junk yard and picking one up there and it working?

God Bless

Also one more thing. This may sound dumb but, Is it ok to drive, or am I in danger of loosing all power. Oh, yea my volt meter reads 12.

It's tricky, but in a pinch you can run on 10 volts.
At that point you'll need a jump to start it, but if you leave the jump on a few minutes, you get some recharge.

I thought his alt was going out? How's he gonna recharge????

DJG- obviously you have found the point in the alternator's rpm range (4,000 on the engine is about 2,000 rpm on the alt) that the system will allow "charging current" to come on line...Your voltage reg is screwed, get another alt...
