Idiot lights galore, then power failiure

88 TII. So a couple of days ago all of my idiot lights started coming on while I was driving. Also, the "shift up" light was on constantly. It was basically displaying all the lights like it does when you turn on your car without actually starting it (except I actually had it running). I've been driving like this for a couple of days, until today my radio started blipping on and off, and I remembered my car did this one time before when the alternator went out and I drained the battery. Luckely this time I was close to home and I literally reached my driveway as everything went dead. So what could have caused this? I doubt it is the alternator, because I just replaced it about 2 years ago. Also, the funky idiot light situation points to something else. Could there be a short somewhere? Fuse? thanks

All idiot lights on while driving is the indication that the alt is not charging properly. Have your alternator tested... most places will do it for free.

Alternator is toast - 2 years ago on a replacement isn't unheard of.

thanks for the info. I'll test the alt. If that is it, then rebuilds aren't worth crap, especially for what they cost.

I've got a few rebuilds done on my alternators. Run like champs after. 50 bucks (canadian) and they push 80 amps (s4)
