Both look like S5 Idiot light clusters

right picture on the right however corresponds with the Warning pattern of an S4 idiot light cluster, but the lighting design isnt the same as S4 but an S5.

checkengine light

i noticed that the checkengine light goes on, on 1st gear at 2000rpm and goes off at 3000rpm, and when i shift to 2nd gear it goes on at 1800rpm and goes off at 2200rpm. on 3rd gear it appears sometimes and sometimes but not on 4th or 5th and not when you shift back to 2nd.why? it's driving me crasy!!!

the brake light being on means you need to add brake fluid or the parking break isn't all the way down lol
and i dont know about the seat belts cause my shoulder belt part is broken and i have electrical problems =P

Well looking at both one looks like the s5 and one looks like the s4 88 one wont work right with the 91 i would not think!

S4 idiot cluster does not have a check engine light. or a seat belt light.

I have a 90 GXL and all my lights work the way they are supposed to, as in none of them are one when i'm driving. Even when my automatic seatbelt was broken, the light never came on.

and awddrift, you can go to the mazda dealer and they should replace your broken shoulder belt for free, as it has a lifetime warranty

Okay, number 1, the 90-91 vert with air bag uses the FC66 idiot light panel. And only the FC66 idiot light panel.

#2 when you say lights, I am assuming you mean the actual light bulbs themselves and not the back part of the cluster, because...

#3 the 88 convertible uses the FB66 idiot light panel, while the 88 coupes use either a FB02 or FB04 or FB05 idiot light panel and they wire entirely different from any 89+ model.

#4 if the brake indicator light is on all the time (and the correct panel is being used) then you are either low on brake fluid or you have the hand/parking brake on

#5 the seat belt light is controlled by the CPU... is the seat belt switch (found at the back of the center of the driver seat) plugged in? If the seat belt is not on, or that switch is unplugged the idiot light for the seat belts will come on.

#6 you need to pull the codes from the ECU and see what is turning on the engine light IF you are using the correct idiot light panel for the car.

#7 The lit idiot light panel in your first post is the 88, but it is from a 88 coupe, not a convertible (which again uses a different idiot light set).
