identify this part!!

Ok the winner doesn't get **** but the satisfaction of helping me figure out what this thing is.

Ok my car is an 87 TII and i am doing some manifold reconstruction. But I cant figure out what this thing is and if i really need it, i dont think i do but just wanna make sure before i go welding it up.

Its a small cylinder looking device on the back of the upper intake manifold, it looks and acts like a smaller bac valve. It has a small two prong electrical connection that runs from up under the intake manifold. And this device also has a small tube that draws air from the inter cooler.

Please help me identify this part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes it is basicly a smaller bac vavle.. it adds air when P/S, A/C etc is used to help the idle.

It's to assist with the power steering, increasing the idle speed a bit when the wheel's turned to avoid stumbling or stalling. If you still have power steering, leave it. In fact it's hardly in the way (or even visable), so even if you've removed the power steering I'd save the hassle of making a blanking plate and forget about it. Just leave it unplugged.

It's name is the Air Supply Valve and does what is described above. I removed mine and JBWelded a penny over the small hole in the throttle body, capped the outlet from the throttle body to the intercooler and also at the intercooler.

I removed it for a reason. I don't like the way the water hose is connected b/t the throttle body and the rear housing. It's too much trouble for me to remove and replace the throttle body with that hose. My hands won't fit in there to get the hose clamps off. So I fould a water hose of the same diameter, but longer and twisty. It curls out the back side of the throttle body and curls back in towards the throttle body to connect to the pipe on the rear housing. Sooooooo....when I go to remove the throttle body, I can lift the throttle body upwards the better part of a foot, which gives me access to the water hose clamps.

yea its already gone, i mean the asv valve is! And no i dont have power steering or a/c either so thats no concern to me. And Im just trying to remove everything possible from the manifold to clean them up, you guys gotta see this when im done. It looks almost like a tubular intake on the lower half.

oh i will, its just so time consuming its not even funny but it will look awesome and it will throw emissions visiual inspections for a loop because you wont even know that **** is supposed to be there when i get done.
