Ideas on a good cat-back?

Should I go ahead and let the local shop build one for me? Or order from Borla and have the local shop customize it and do it that way? Which would be cheaper?

I would say best is the racing beat system and a good deal would be an OBX system (about $250 I think). It's stainless but may have bif mufflers.

Well, the best cat-back oithere (money wise) is the single SS from corksport, and you can install it yourself

Yeah, I heard racing beat is pretty good, but most of it is too expensive.

Stupid newbie question, but what is bif mufflers?
I never heard of corksport, but I'm assuming they're good.

Another thing... At the moment I have dual exhausts - when I get my cat-back... should I just have it as a single exhaust? I dunno, on my car, it looks pretty nice as a dual.. but a lot have told me to change it to single...

Corksport is backordered that is why I don't have it yet and therefor not on my car but I can't wait until I do. It outa be damn sweet

any more information on corksport I can read up on?

I'm sure you guys heard of Borla though. I went to their site awhile back, and couldn't find barely anything on FCs.... That I was looking for (cat-back, header) .. I've seen a few of racing beat... but I'm not sure what I want to do. Just the money kills ya.

Pacesetter isn't bad for an affordable system...

I believe Corksport's website is www.corksport.com

I personally would not go to single exhaust... There might be some gains performance-wise, but with the cutouts for the dual pipes, a single exhaust would look broken, IMO. I love the aggressive looking, dual-exhaust, *** of the FCs.

pacesetter sux!

just remember you get what you pay for i'm a cheap azz but i know where to spend the money i'd go with the corksport it's pretty cheap and should last the life of the car since it's ss. if you have the exhaust shop do it for you they can do what ever you want that's why a lot of people go that route. just remember to get a good quality muffler and the rest is easy but if you alrealy have borla mufflers you should be ok what size is your pipeing?

Go with the RB header, and if you still want the custom route, Dynomax superflow will be the one I recommend. Its been proven many times on the rotary engine!

I'll take a look around with corksport.

I'm not sure what size my piping is. I know that's kinda stupid... but I dunno.

I have the Corksport on my 86 na. I also have the bonez super hi-flow cat (full replacement for all three converters) its pretty damn loud. If the windows are closed its ok, but windows open, i'm afraid of cops. My family say that they can here me about two blocks away...so beware. However, that sound is addictive!!!!

i wouldnt get a borla. IMO they are crap. the racing beat would be sweet, but cost alot. i havent seen the corksport, but i would think its nice. corksport makes good stuff. if you wanna go the cheap route, just buy a good universal and have shop weld you some 2"-2.5" piping. a friend of mine had a 90 Gxl and for his cat-back, he got an Apex dunk muffler and had a muffler shop do the rest. cant remember pipe size. he left the stock header on and got rid of the cats. it was ungodly loud, but it didnt sound bad. when it had cats on it, a few RX-7 guys said it sounded like a 3rd gen.

Doesn't get any better than that. Price is very reasonable for a high end cat-back. I have an old style n/a system on the convertible and I love it.

I have the APEXi N1 Duals with no cats on a 87 TurboII.
They sound great, not to loud at all (I live in Michigan they are not very picky). You can get the silencers for like $20 a piece but I dont see why.
They cost me $645 shipped, I feel they were worth it

I suggest getting a Kakimoto exhaust. It you want performance and quality Kakimoto is the one to go. I like it alot compared to Apexi exhaust, you can easily tell the workmanship on the Kakimoto exhaust is alot better and cleaner.

Checkout my Group Buy for the Kakimoto Exhaust:

You don't really want to waste your money on a pacesetter header!

Anyone running a RB full turbo on an N/A, with a custom dp? Any negative effects of having a bigger diameter system on the n/a? (mine is an S5, so no back pressure issues).

I disagree. I think the single out the back makes an FC look good, especially with a 3" tip. The other cut-out can be filled in by any body shop. I'm not all about the "stock look", I prefer to be different.
