DON'T get the OBX if you hate rice. I bought my '90 TurboII and the moron before me put the OBX exhaust on it, and it's got freaking coffee cans on it, it's HIDEOUS.

Actually the HKS is looks more stock than the RB's and from what I heard they are quieter too.

Lots of opinions here...Here are mine! Before you buy anything, you better decide how loud you want it to be. Here are some rules of thumb for NON TURBO applications:

HEADERS: Racing beat (Quality part), Mindtrain (Quality part), or Pacesetter (Piece of crap) will all raise the exhaust volume about 20-25 decibls. ALL headers give rotary engines a very high pitched "Chain saw buzz". If you want a deep exhaust note, stay away from headers.

GARBAGE: Dynomax, Borla, and Pacesetter components are crap. Period. Yes the Borla components are stainless, but they are a very thin gauge stainless steel that gives a very high pitched note. Dynomax mufflers melt under the rotary engine heat because they are made of fiberglass.

QUALITY: Any Bonez, Racing Beat, Mazdatrix, Greedy, Corksport, or Apexi part.

CONCLUSION... (IE: My opinion)
If you want a good deep sounding exhaust that won't scare the old folks, get a Bonez high flow cat connected to the Racing Beat cat back. <-- No headers and sounds mean!

If you want all out power, get a Racing Beat or Mindtrain header with no cat, connected to an Apexi N1 single. <-- about 12-15 more HP than the above recommendation. Just be prepared for the loud.

My 86 NA is currently running a Racing Beat header, High flow cat, and the Racing Beat mufflers. Its loud, it has a buzz, and will scare the crap out of people on the street at anything over 4000 RPM. I'll try to post an MP3 of what it sounds like latter.

Do you know that the bonez system is a BADGE from Dynomax?!?!?

Something to think about

BTW - The best setup for NA is a header with a pre-silencer (or a free flow cat) with a 2.25-2.5 exhaust system.........PERIOD!

What evidence do you have to support that? The Bonez cats offered at Rotart Performance all contain stainless steel packing inside. (With a annodized carbon steel outside) As far as I know, there are no Dynomax products that contain stainless steel. Prove me wrong?

As for the "Best Setup"? That's pretty much what I said... Header, followed by a strait pipe (or silencer), connected to a strait out the back exhaust. The Apexi N1 single would be a good example,

Bonez doesn't make a Cat-Back application for RX-7's.

Ok now I know where's the confussion:

[B][QUOTE]

He never mentioned catalytic converter, and since RB, Mazdatrix, corksport, Apexi doesn't make a catalytic converter we are to think (at least I did) that he is refering to catback.

Further more he mentioned that:
"Dynomax mufflers melt under the rotary engine heat because they are made of fiberglass."

and

"QUALITY: Any Bonez, Racing Beat, Mazdatrix, Greedy, Corksport, or Apexi part. "

RP 50mm catback = Dynomax, How could one be garbage and the other one be quality?

Please forgive me guys, I am not feeling very good today, so I felt like going the extra mile.
