ID missing sensor/piece

Can anybody identify what is supposed to be here? It's an 89 GXL, looking at the ignition side of the manifold

this was low on priority to check, but finally got around to poke around, and there is nothing on the harness that looks like it could connect to that sensor. is it necessary? should i figure something out to wire it in?

i found the connector, it was taped up and jumped with a type of resistior. my friend said it looks like one of those bs ebay power mods that tells the car it's cold air so it'll dump gas. i removed that and plugged the sensor back in. it's not orientation specific is it?

It's not polar, so just plug it back in whichever way you want. That ebay resistor can go in the trash can.
