-ebay 24x12x3 core | 3in id/od
-2.5in butt welded/mandrel bent aluminum tubing
-silicone couplers/reducers
-higgi tb adapter
-custom steel mounting brackets
-ss regular hose clamps
-welded nipple for bac valve and some other idle valve

-bov will be welded later, i think on the turbo side
-waiting on shorter air filter, will only make hard pipe if i go EMS
-have to cut a few mm's out of the lower headlight frame
-will have upper radiator panel made
-same with lower ducting
-oil filter is accessible
-spark plugs will be removed from under the car now
-everything is a very tight fit, don't know how engine vibration will affect it yet ...will adjust rb engine brace to be stiffer
-car was damaged by previous owner, noticable by the black primered areas that started to show rust
-battery in the passenger bin
-relocated pcv valve slightly
-tb cable is ziptied in

that's it for now ...don't ask about cost  ...it is a rewarding experience to make something work from scratch

only problems were two vacuum leaks that i fixed immediately and kicked myself in the shin for making

bumper will need minor cutting on lower half of opening, though i may cut upwards for more surface area for the air. i did the best i could at pushing it back without it hitting anything and blocking flow.

if anyone knows of a bumper that has better backspacing for a fmic like this please let me know.

I got that same "ebay special" IC coming in the mail. I didn't take my bumper off yet but it looks like there is more room in there then I was thinking. Looks good man. For the BOV they have these for Greddy and HKS. I got one like this for my Type R BOV.

Very nice! Good job on routing pipe and welds. Nice 400f high temp silicon hoses.

Thanks!

Welds were done by 2 different shops, 1 over charged me, the other didn't match the ID's up too well but was cheaper ...go figure lol.

All the segments were cut once, with minor edge trimming for the other pipes to line up ...I used up 3 u-bends completely and maybe 4 feet of straight pipe.

Looks very similar to the greddy designed kit. How much was your total cost?

Mine. Total cost $195.00

Work was done by iceblue. We used a set of six 90o mandrel bent aluminum and 2 U bends. Two 2in to 3in adaptors were made at local exhaust shop. High temp silicon hose, 2ft 3in.

How did yours favor in price?

Angry

I SAID NOT TO ASK ABOUT PRICE!!!!!! jk...

eh ...same as Greddy kit +/- depending on where you look. I have seen the kit go for $735

for imagination purposes though:

$200 core
$200 piping ...includes the bitch place that charged me $30 for no reason
$100 silicone and clamps

then theres welding, the bracket, little paint, battery relocation, etc.

like i said, if you love your works of arts, your creations or the result of building your own **** ...then this is the route to take.

btw - Greddy doesn't compare to me

very nice! But why would you weld anything? Couldn't you just cut the pieces you want and use sylicone couplers and tbolt clamps?

edit: nevermind if you did that you would have pretty much one big coupler

Wow! Great job man!

I understand what you are saying about doing it your self and the satisfaction that comes from that. You might not have saved any money doing it your self....but by the way it looks you could lie and tell people it is a kit...and they would not know it

I couldn't possibly use silicone on the welds near the bends. Though I could have used 45* silicone bends ...but then a weld is much cheaper and cleaner.

Thanks James. I painted the pipes black so my engine bay looked more OEM-like.

Yeah. I probably could have gotten more performance from an EMS system, but this mod let me have less downtime. Plus, it's actual visual proof that I get what I paid for. I would never know that I had an EMS by looking at the car ...so I guess that justifies it better.

Not if you hate vacuum leaks.

Is this car both yours and iceblue's or something? Because that's the same picture he posted before of his project.

I am assuming your saying that the s5 bumper will not have to be cut? ...or atleast the mesh is farther forward away from the car?

How cheap?

Hate to brings this back from dead. But yea the project was for her. I did the entire project to build her a car that she wanted. It was ither this or get a hyundai accent. I wanted her to have something she liked and felt good about. That was the outcome.

Oh yea I blew the budget through the roof and had to cut minor corners in the end. Like not fix sun roof, temp non proper battery relocation, no radio, Gehto exhaust, things like that.
