Iac

Can someone please give me a picture of the IAC and/or how to get to it? I'm really tired of having to keep my foot on the gas pedal 24/7 to hold idle.

I just found out tonight that my timing was completely advanced to the point where it couldn't be advanced any further. I retardated it back to normal, which lowered my idle even more to the point where it will no longer idle at all.

I know it's under the throttle bodies, but I don't really like getting into things that I have no lcue about. Especially since that's my only mode of transportation and I have about 2 hours to work on it after work.

Please help.

All the info you need is in the Factory Service Manaual. If you don't have the FSM, click here and download it in PDF format for free.

Look in the FSM for the BAC valve, which controls idle speed. It's not under the TB.

Hmm, I was told by my boss, Mike Van Steenburg owner of ISC Racing Services, that I needed to adjust my IAC and that it was under my throttle body. Let me search a little harder.

I dont care if he owns half the world, your car does NOT have an IAC. It has a BAC which is:

#1. In plain sight
#2. Not adjustable.

you'll either need to adjust your BAC as stated above or your throttle stop screw. you'll see the stop screw at the back of your dynamic chamber. WITH THE CAR OFF loosen the little lock nut and tighten your idle screw slightly.

adjusting the running charactoristcis of your FC is kind of a balancing act between a few different variables that include but are not limited to the BAC, idle stop screw, TPS, CAS etc

all those things need to be adjusted properly and the service manual (also stated above from NZConvertable) is the best place to check the adjustment process.

hope that helps,
TR

EDIT: not to thread jack. Rat why do you say that the BAC is not adjustable. on my T2 there is a brass looking flat head screw on the end of the BAC that looks like an adjustment... please help me out if i am wrong and this doesn nothing for my idle...

thanks,
TR

Its not an adjustment, HOWEVER!!!! BEFORE I GET JUMPED!!! Some BACs are adjustable with a screw thats located in the round protrusion. I *think* they are of the JDM persuation..

i will have to dissagree. on my 10th ae i do have that protrusion with the adjustment screw. and i know that this car is 100% US. i'm not sure if it's because it's an '88 10th ae which have some different parts during the crossover to the S5's or if all T2's have them.

maybe this can help a bit, TeamFC3S Adjusting idle problems

BAC valves on US-spec TII's have an adjustable bypass screw to set idle speed. NA's have a screw on the top of the TB instead. J-spec engines have nothing, which sucks...
