I Wanna Swap out my Logicon...

Can anyone help me and tell me step by step, as far as what i need to do to get the long string of wires that appear to go towards the firewall disconnected.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pull the dash? It would make it much easier, and pulling the dash isn't all that difficult.

Silly people.

That hidden Logicon plug is easily accessible if you first remove the defroster vent at the front of the dash.
Make your life simple and tie a long piece of string to the plug before you pull it out.
When it's time to reinstall, tie the string back to the plug and pull it back up into place.

Pulling the dash is kinda too much just to take out the logicon. If i remember right i just pulled out my radio and shoved my hand all the way in there. Its that or i did what clokker said and removed the defroster vent in front. It really wasnt hard and you dont need to pull out your whole dash.

Is it easier, or realistic, to cut and splice all of the wires in that bundle?

-No.

get it from the bottom of the dash, like think gas pedal and then up towards the rear veiw mirror, you should pull 2 or 3 vents/hoses. takes about 10 mins to unplug it. the rest is all being careful to not break your stereo surround.

Damn!

When I glanced at it, I thought I could remove the wires from the circuit board later. Or just splice the wires.

I didn't realize that the cord was plugged anywhere accessible.

lol I did that the first time, worst mistake ever because it took me two used logicons to find a working one. It looked so simple with the four screws I didn't even bother to research it.

If you remove the defrost panel like clokker suggested it is very easy. I didn't need the string or the coat hanger (or whatever the manual suggests).
