i think it blew

my friends rx blew up i think. there is a loud knocking noise, not a pinging like what i have been told. it sounds like the rotor is hiting something? is it blown or cound it be a bearing out some where. but if it is blown and the motor is bad he wants to sell it. it still runs for now but sound like hell. if he were to sell it how much could he ask for it. its a 1991 5 speed N/A good interior, good body, falken rims, newer trany the car looks alright but the motor is bad i think.

drain the oil and shine a light in it, if it looks like that 70's speckled shiny paint then i'd say the bearings are going out and the car would only be worth $300-500 in decent condition.

easy way to tell if its blown is take one of the plugs out on one rotor and turn the engine over if you hear three blows of air it should be alright then do the same on the rear rotor

oh yeah send me pics and how much he wants for it

good compression does not mean the motor is good.

Cali and florida are two different places Karack.
I bet he could get a grand out of it. Or atleast pull the rims off and sell them for $400, sell the tails for antoher $250.

I have a good friend in florida who has a 94 montego blue FD and has been searching for a 2nd gen.

that depends if someone is willing to spend the time to part the car out, not alot of people care to do it. the resale might be a little higher but i cant see it being much higher just because of the state or i would think it would be easier to just trailer in cars from other states.

the rims and tail lights arent very hard to take off and if he could sell them for that much its still more than 300-500 i also think if the body is in good shape and interior he could get a grand for it

FYI, cracked apex seals still make a "woosh" sound the same as normal apex seals. they just arent as loud.

edit: unless he somehow shot an entire apex out the exhaust port which is unlikely.

i didn't mean any disrespect i was just giving generalized info, it's hard to judge value without seeing something in person.
