i smell fuel
whoops, signed up before i picked the car up, found out it was an 88. so it's an S4, forgot about the profile. so what do i need to do/how to check this pulsation thingy?
Simple, just out and replace it, either with another (new) PD or with a banjo bolt from the same fuel rail. If its not bad now, it could go bad. I've had one fail on me and two fail on cars that have been through this garage. One of them caused the car to burst into flames. I highly reccomend the banjo bolt, thats what I did on my S4 GXL, and never looked back
For my S5 'vert, I'm probbably going to just chop the PD off and tap it for a larger bolt.

Before tearing off your pulsation dampner and all that jazz, do a quick check as to where the smell is eminating from. I had a similar problem a few months back on my S5. Take a wiff near the charcoal canister, and where the hose exits below it. The canister is on the passenger side up near the firewall, all black cylinder, with about 3 vac lines coming out of it in different places maybe 3-4" dia, 6 inch deep. If that's where the odor is coming from, you may have a bad gas cap just like me. I replaced mine, problem solved.
-just a tip, don't get a locking gas cap if you're not used to one, it's a major PITA.
