I plan to fire it up soon. What do i need to remember?
1987 rx7 fc n/a streetport.
So im ready to fire the girl up...
It has a compression ratio of 7:1 in the front housing (used) and 8:1 in the rear housing (it's much newer), and it holds pressure well with no leaks. I took it to atkins and these are the ratios they gave me from a test and said it should be fine, that they send engines out with lower compression than what i built mine with. Endplay is good as well.
Brand new engine wiring harness, spark plug coils are good, fuel injectors have been serviced, pulsation dampener replaced, bunch of fuel lines and vaciuum lines replaced and fastened( plus replacement of various other small things). Drained all of the old fuel out and and am planning to fill the tank with a few gallons of brand new gas. The engine has also been primed with oil.
All i have left to do is set the timing with the main pulley hub and CAS, adjust the tps sensor, and perhaps the idle screw, I think. Please tell me if im missing something.
And this is why my question is: Is there anything else i need to do or look for before the initial start? I am asking this because my Haynes manual does not seem to give a very detailed start-up procedure, and this makes me apprehensive.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. I have no idea what "NE" means on my thread.

The haynes manual is pretty garbage. It's ok for a quick reference every once in a while, but I wouldn't use it for anything more than that.
Just make sure you have oil, antifreeze, new fuel, fuel filter, spark plugs... maybe I'm forgetting something too. Verify everything's tightened down properly, then install the battery and turn the key on. Look for any weird indications. Jumper the fuel pump at the little 2-prong yellow connector by the AFM and look for fuel leaks. If not, disconnect the jumper and give it a go.

Oh yeah a fuel filter, good call. But yeah i think iv'e taken care of everything you guys have mentioned. I don't think the injectors will leak because i put oil on the o-ring like you're supposed to. Oh well. Thanks for the feedback, and yeah the coolant leaks were a big reason why i replaced a bunch of hoses.
Time to go try it out i guess. Thanks again!

DO NOT NEGLECT to check for fuel leaks before starting the engine. There is always a possibility for leaks, no matter how many new gaskets, o-rings, or crush washers you replaced. If you broke in to the system, then it's a possibility.
And clokker's right. You have to warm the engine to the normal operating temperature before attempting to set the tps.

Yes you can However, it may be tricky for a newcomer. You pull up on the small cam that the thermowax would normally push up. Perhaps put a screw driver to hold it in place?
But... let it warm up anyway. You can look for any issues while you are waiting for it to get to operating temp.
Also, get some cardboard boxes and flatten them out. Then shove them under the car. Makes it easier to find any drips and drops.
