its booked in every mazda history the turbo 2 is the second turbo rx7 after the 12a turbo and in japan all rx7's were turbo and with either blue, gray or bronze tinted windows as a standard feature in japan and oh no mechanical seat belts :P

so heres another fact in japan theres no such thing as turbo fd or turbo 2 fc or turbo fb because their all turbo and went by savannah except for the fd

later the fc came with different features like here for example except the fact that the everything is turbo in japan the base model here would be either the gt-r s4 mainly or gt-x for s5's (correct me if im wrong people im trying to remember since i cant find the book)

then the fully loaded model alike here called the gxl or turbo 2 (NOTE: gxl is all the same features as the t2 except the t2 drive train and engine, momo steering wheel and rims) over there would be the infini but would have alot more feature then what we can ever imagine LIKE,

bigger exhaust system, bucket seats, thicker sway bar in the front and rear, front upper strut bar, passenger foot bar, driver and passenger knee pad stiffer suspension all and everything by mazdaspeed japan

oh and because of the department of transportation aka dot Mazda's and any car in the us tend to be much heavier because of more chassie renforcements all around the cars

also if you haven't noticed before many of the race or upgraded cars would have the factory welds and chassis bars redone in the car at certain areas or points to provide much greater stiffness

so yea theres a massive BOOK im your local barns and noble of the history and differences of rx7's there and here all for 60 bucks (thats what i paid) so if im wrong about anything here scan link and send some sort of prof and ill do the same if no one believes me

I believe your talking about seem welding.

it has its pro's and con's

greater stiffening yes, but if you wreck it, better chance of bending the frame.

for a track car, i say go for it, but in a street car, the extra stiffness isnt really used, and the greater potential to ruin the chasis isnt worth the extra effort(to me).

No, the base model was the GT which was simular to our Sport/GTU models except with a Turbo drivetrain (engine, tranny, rear end, etc).

Jspec models included the:

GT
GT-R
GT-X
GT Limited
GT Limited Special Edition
Cabriolet
Infini

No, it's either GT-X or GT Limited, Infini was a lightweight model, GXL is definately not that.
