I never thought about this before

Why is it called a turbo II?

i know it's a stupid question but i was thinking today and all i could come up with is a turbo "I" would be a cosmo or something

In Japan the FB was available as a Turbo model (similar to our GSL-SE, but with a 12AT in it, instead of a 13BREI).

The FC turbo is just the 2nd Turbo RX-7.

2nd gen's had a twin scroll turbo setup. they call it TII/T2 because of the twin scroll. The S5's dropped that and went to just "turbo" because they got rid of the twin scroll setup and went to a straight manifold to turbo setup instead. S4= TII S5= Turbo

No, only the 91 dropped the II. The 89 and 90 Turbo were still called the Turbo II and had the TurboII sticker on each front fender.

My above reply pretty much rules that made up answer out. Besides Chris Boots being wrong on the twin scroll (the 89-92 Turbo had what Mazda called the "Completely Independent Twin Scroll")... hmm still a twin scroll Turbo. BTW, the 87-88 turbo was the twin chamber scroll single turbocharger.

Oh look... from the 89 Brochure... note the TurboII on the passengers front fender.

Come on guys stop making stuff up!

OH
MY
GOD
People needs to be banned for making **** up...

Why would you want to call an FD an "FD turbo"???
They are all turbo'd!
A non-turbo FD was never made by Mazda, so calling it an FD turbo is redundant.

In fact, the "Turbo II" was never released in Japan, cause all of their FC's were turbo'd.
Kinda stupid to call it a "Turbo" when ALL of the FC's in Japan were turbo'd.

ROFL, this is good. I gotta theory too.

Turbo 2's only came with 2 seats, hence t2, each passenger gets pushed back into his seat because of the brute torque when the twin scroll t2 turbocharger spools

Because it was the second turbocharged rotary. The first was in a Japan-only version of the FB, and I think it was based on the 12A...

I'm hoping that's sarcasm, otherwise, you need to learn how to read the posts above you.

Regardless, posting for the sake of increasing your post count is frowned upon and your posts can be removed.

damn I always thought it was because of the turbo that made the TII sticker. I stand totally corrected. So, everyone that's wrong on this forum are going to get infractions because they think they are right about something only to find that they are wrong...? Sounds to me like we're gunna see a lot of banned members because they made the mistake of putting in their 2 cents

No, they will be warned and penelized for posting incorrect information with no regard to facts, aka: made up BS. It's not just you, it's a problem that's been slowly spiraling out of control for awhile now. but back on topic:

T2 because it was a better terminator movie. (The real answer has already been said).
