I need some advice

A guy I know via the internet has offered me his 91 GTU for $3000. The body inside and out are in prime condition. No dents or anything, just a cracked drivers side mirrow housing, he said its barely noticeable though. Its got some mods on it

Racing Beat Flywheel (steel)
Turbo brake conversion (all new calipers)
slotted rotors
porterfield R4S pads
steel braided brakelines
KYB AGX Struts
RacingBeat Springs
Cusco Pillowball mounts
new driveshaft
new windshield
new-ish clutch
aftermarket stereo (not fantastic but works)
new logicon
new Windshield wiper switch
New heater blower fan
factory recall performed on the drivers side automatic seatbelt
new radiator and hoses
new exhaut Y pipe from racing beat
new clock/warning panel
new smog pump
new catalytic converter

Thats all well and good, but what im worried about is the engine. He says it, and the chassis has 208k on it. Not sure about how much on the transmission since he switched it for an s4 tranny. He's including the strock transmission and stock springs and the original mounts. It still gets perfect oil pressure, 30psi idle and 60psi above 3000rpms. So yah, it sounds good overall, and it sounds like he takes good care of it, Im just not sure how much longer the engine is going to last. Any opinions?

If your concerned about the motor, pay to have a compression test done. If the motors good, i'd say jump on it. Beautiful car!

when u say internet, can u go look at the car before u buy?

if u can, or u trust him to do it, do a compression test on the engine

Im in Tucson, az, and he and the car are in socal. 500 miles away. So im taking his word on all of this and the few pictures he's sent me. Ill have to decide when I get there if im going to get it. But chances are, after driving 500 miles, ill probably get it. Thats why I want some opinions before hand so i can call it off incase theres a reason why I shouldnt get it.

Counteroffer $1,000 and then tell them to **** off if they refuse...
The car isn't worth 3k in my book.
