a friend of mine tried putting an S5 alt. on his S4 and he popped his main fuse...I don't what he did though I wasn't there when he made the attempt.
What I gathered upon inspection though was that the spacer needs to be ground a little...that sleeve on one of the bolts....and the plugs for the reg. are different
I would say though - OBVIOUSLY - find another S4 one or get yours rebuilt....if you send it out for a rebuild you could stop him half way through and bring the cases home and polsh htem up...ooo shiny!!

see, there is a rebuilt s5 alternator on ebay right now, and i think i can get it for like 60 shipped, which is a good *** deal.
If the plug is the only thing different from the s4, its all good cuz im cutting the connector off anyways and just wiring it together.....thats how mine is right now.
So the question is, will it mount up right? If i cut the connector and just wire it up, will it be good?

they were the same.
the s4 ones were 70 amp and the s5 ones were 80amp.
but yea if you own a rx7 then your gonna go through alternators, thats why the life time warrenty is nice. they swap it out for free.
unless you want to step it up and get a 3rd gen alternator.

sweet, so i have 2 more questions before i visit autozone.
Should i get an s5 (assuming it fits ecept for the electrical connector) because it is more powerful?
And will the 3rd gen. alternator fit if i cut the connector off and wire it straight up?
