I how to get 300 hp out of my N/A?

I just got a 90 gtu from a family friend and when I brought it home my neighbor was talking trash about how slow it was. So I told him it could beat his sorry vette, and he got real quiet. Then he laughed and said:

"If you can beat my vette with that without usin turbo or nitrous, I'll give you the damn car!"

He's got a 97 vette w/ blue and white stripes (I think it may be special) with header and exhaust.

I figure if I get up to 300hp and pull out everything except the drivers seat it may be a race.

I was thinking headers, and a port and polish would be a start....

God not again, do a quick search for peripheral port, that might just get you there, since your planning on porting the engine anyways, for the love of god i hope you don't think there is a head to port/polish or else be prepared for a flaming

gahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

How to make 300 hp without boost or nitrous?

Swap a BUILT 5.7L Hemi.

It would be a waste of money anyways, why would you want a corvette?

I'm searching periphial port, thanks.

What do I need to do to the engine to get it to rev to 10,000?

You do realize, even if you pull a win out of your ***, there's no way in hell this guy will actually give you his Corvette, right?

Well I don't want to waste my time getting it in writing if I can't have a chance to win :-(

Is a 90 gtu S4 S5 or S6?

Thank you. I tried searching for "S5" but it doesn't work :-(

So apparently you have to block the primary ports for a peripheral port set up, that shoud be easy.

but where does the intake air come in at?

You're gonna spend at least 10000 dollars on a proper pp setup. Give it up.

.............Is this your first rotary?

Don't worry about that stuff. Tune, suspension, then power. You'll be happy that way.

I had a 87 camero w/ about 280 hp.

I dont wanna take a big step backwards (and beating the vette would be nice too lol)

Cant I get suspension stuff after I get power?

Not to be mean but do you know the basic of how a rotary works. Even if you get it to 300hp its not going to be that reliable no more especially with the pp port. I agree that he would not give his car to you even if you win. He'll make some kind of excuses like i have a exhaust leak or my rod is knocking. Something like that

you can get around 250hp with a peripheral engine and 200 hp with a 1994 engine with 4 bridgeports and a N/A set up. I think you need to find a combination that can do less time in the 1/4 mile drag than the vette. Example, is the vette run 12.5 sec. you need to run 12.0 secs or less to win.

ok, good points

rx7-kid:
I know how it works, theres rotors, the spin on a shaft in housings. It doesn't need to be reliable, just fast enough to win. I'll get a reliable motor once I sell the vette

He may not give me the car, but he'll at least give me some money or do my yard work for a year.

Nitrometano:
Thats cool, are you saying I don't need 300 hp? how much do I need to run 12.00 ?

To the O.P.:

Oh hon, just drop it. The N/A is not for *****-to-the-wall power. It's for durable, racy fun. Upgrade and dial the suspension, get some quality tires. Then spend some cash on a Racing Beat true dual exhaust system, from the front (yes, the front) all the way to the back (Yes.....the back..). THEN, after you've done that, with the change you've saved in your pocket..buy a K&N drop in filter.

Rev to 10,000? Why in God's sweet name would you want to do that? There's virtually NO power past the redline.

I'm w/ you on the tires, and exhaust, (I'll need those regardless of power level)

I don't claim to be a rotary expert, but I doubt a K&N drop in is gonna get me where I need to be

by searching for "peripheral port " I found some threads and they say that it makes power around 9,500-9,700. I figure to be safe I'll build to withstand 10,000

BTW - I searched "peripheral port " and only got 7 results. But I see people use "PP" which I think means the same thing. The problem is when I put "PP" in the search engine, it doesn't work.

Am I doing something wrong or what?

13bt = turbo'd engine.

See above answer.

How much money do you have to dump into this car? Your going to need alot to make an NA with that much power with no nitrous or turbo. Your drivability will be pretty bad too.

A peripheral port that puts out 300 WHP will probably cost as much as a used Vette anyway...

OTOH, he didn't specify no supercharger...

To be honest a V8 swap is the only economic way to get 300 NA HP.

Try searching for p-port, pport, etc. too. Correct PP = Peripheral Port.
