I have some mysterious substance on my oil dipstick!

Whenever my car is cold and I check the dipstick...it has a creamy coating of some white/off white cream on it! WTF is that? I smelled it, it doesn't smell like anything...I also see drops of sorta like water drops on the dip stick too. It feels exactly like water and it doesn't smell of anything. I didn't bother trying to TASTE either one...for fear of dying. Now my car never loses coolant and the level has never dropped, so what is this creamy/margarine like substance on my dipstick?! It coats the stick right up to the OIL level part of the stick...

If you take a lot of short trips here and there it could be condensation in the tube mixing with your oil making it white looking.

It's water condensation. Mine gets it on the oil fill cap and up around the o-ring on the CAS. I don't know why that much water condenses inside. A buddy said he heard rotarys did this when the vacuum pump was removed but I really don't see the corelation. Not much help for ya, just wanted you to know you're not alone.

As the others mentioned.. it's water..
Prolly not coolant, so don't worry too much.. If you take alot of short trips and don't let your motor warm up completely, you're going to get condensation forming and results in the white substance you are now seeing.. Are you still running a 160 degree thermostat? I've suggested it to you before to switch it out to a 180.. a motor has to reach a certain temp in order to work most efficiently.. a 160 degree stat will definitly lead to overcooling..

Uh yeah, I'm still using the 160 degree thermostat....I guess I should switch back to the 180. THe car runs bone cold...I can go for major runs after runs, open the hood and touch the intake manifold, thermostat housing and hold my hand there forever, and its just warm, won't burn at all. I guess that means it is really running DAMN COLD. I thought this would be the best way to prevent it from overheating and detonating, but i guess that 's not really wise.

Well last time I went to B.C. at this time of year it was wet as hell. If you have a cold air intake it will pull in water out of the air . If your not losing coolant it's not a problem. just get the car warmed up good for an hour and it will go away.
