Arrow I have no 4th gear help!!!

Ok so heres whats up. I have had a problem with my 4th gear whining for a while and now im having an increasing problem with gettin into 4th gear. Al other gears work fine but sometimes ill trymto shif into 4th and my shifter will just hit an invisible brick wall preventign my from entering 4th. Sometimes I have to slam it(gently) just to get to engage. Any idea if this is the tranny, or somthing simple.

Low on fluid? 4th gear is a straight through gear, and the synchros & such are at a different physical point in the transmission from the other gears. I *think* they're higher up, so low fluid would affect this set first.

DOuble clutching doesnt help at all. I could be parked with the clutch open and it will still be impossible to engage 4th gear 75% of the time. Im gonna try the fluid thing on sunday.

If he can't get into 4th gear with the transmission sitting still, there's a problem that double clutching won't fix.

if the engine is not turning,,, and he cant get into the gear, it could be the synchos too...
he could bump the engine in neutral, which turns the shaft a little and then see if it could go into gear.... voda

AS far as I was told double clutching meant you would go from third into neutral release the clutch for a sec then depress the clutch and go into 4th right? I have just been holding the clutch open and pausing in neutral then trying to gently slide into 4th, I think thats called granny shifting. Neithe rone worls well BTW. But imma try the fluid thing first before jumping to conclusions.
