I have and idea!
I just need to know if my logic is on-point here:
I have an '86 GXL, so it comes with the Auto-Adjusting Suspension where you can switch it form "Normal" (soft) mode and "Sport" (stiff) mode. I believe this works through the opening/closing of a valve in the struts, correct me if I'm wrong. So this is my idea:
If I were to set the car into sport mode, and then go to the rear struts and disconnect the electrical clips on the struts, and then go back and re-set it to normal mode, then in my head the rear would still be stiff and the front soft, thus creating more sideways/fun/jail time, right?
Gurus, let me know,
Russell

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
an 86 GXL (if it has the stock struts still), the struts are probably, so worn out that it wouldn't matter what you set it to as they all would be softer than the normal mode.
Stock struts seldom last past 60-75K miles.

if you wanna go sideways, over-inflate your tires, stiffen the body, make sure you have a working lsd and get some better suspension

you all suck at question answering
the correct answer is yes you can do it, and it works well if your shocks are in good shape,
put it in sport and pop the motors off and take a flathead screwdriver and turn the adjuster counterclockwise (i believe... it's been awhile) and bounce the car untill it is as stiff as you want it do the same on both sides and replace the motors, just be careful, because it can really screw with your handling if they are not balanced.
BTW, my car had 230 000 + KMS on my car and they worked great.

I personally would not inflate the tires over the suggested limit. Why risk wearing the tires unevenly, or even worse, risk blowing a tire? Not enough benefits for me.
I come from working on aircraft tires, which do blow, and when they do, people get hurt, or even worse killed. Even though most vehicle tires run much lower pressure, there's still a risk.
