Ok i knew i had some electrical gremlins right well it's really bad now..... If i touch or even sneeze on the engine wiring harness while the car is running at idle the thing shuts off....wierd huh... Must have a hella short on the injector side of the harness, Yeah it's really bad, no wonder i'm hesitationg so bad, and blowing ECU's like fuses.. Now i need a new harness in good shape anyone got one or had a similar problem? Guessing that the rb race headers just Cajuned my wiring, guess next time i'll heat wrap it with some kevlar or something... any help or coments would be appreciated..

 

You've had a lot of Rx7's.....

Why do you think your harness is bad because of the headers? Your harness should be no where near the headers in such a way as to melt or damage it.....

The harness is usually wrapped pretty tough, but you know that probably better than I do. My guess is maybe the previous owner tried to do some cool mod to something, and now the problem is at its utmost.

 

BTW do your light weight wheels come in black?

 

Well here's the deal this "beater" rx-7 was bought from a dealer who took it in as a trade, the car had a streetported rebuilt in it the car wasn't complete when they traded it, the block was in but not all hooked up... So the toyota dealer had the service department "finish it" .... That wasn't the case, they put the plug wires in all backwards left a BUNCH of sensors unhooked and basically botched the final stages of the project... The car was 180 deg out of time when i picked it up. They thought the FRESH rebuild Was BLOWN...Idiots.. So they parked the car out back where it sat for 30 days till i drove by and rescued it..... Got it for $1300 out the door tax title blah blah.... Anyways there is no heat shield on the header of course and it puts off a ton of heat, the wiring harness swings directly over the headers about 12-14 inches above it..... the heat may have nothing to do with it but the plugs for the injectors look mighty brittle... anyways i still have 5 rx-7's.... And have owned a total of 9 now...... this "project" is kinda frusterating, and NO they only had them in silver....I would have liked a darker color as well..but....
