I hate my RX7
89 NA coupe
had it over a year now, barely gone 100 miles
bought it running on one rotor, had the engine rebuilt with atkins engine seal kit
got it running for a bit started break in, after 10 miles found the front cover seal leaking, so had that pulled and replaced correctly and then the car kinda ran good for that 100 miles
the gauges worked, the seat belts worked, the car drove with decent power
but now NONE of the gauges work, nor the dummy cluster, or the seat belts the car basically refuses to run regularly, when I do get it going its literally a dog on power
when trying to start it, its like the car is flooding somehow, changed the spark plugs many times, swapped the coils, the fuel pump seems like its working, the fuel injectors were cleaned and refurbished and THEN flow bench tested by another source I paid $100 separately, I've swapped the ECU, put in a brand new coolant temp sensor from autozone, ive stabbed the CAS more times than I can count, compression tested it (numbers are still in decent range 70 - 80)
tach refuses to bounce when starting, replaced the fuse and only the fuel gauge started working... then shortly later stopped again
I am tempted to buy a new engine harness, but I am sick of throwing money at this car and it not fixing the issue, I have an REW motor for it I want to swap in and would rather spend the money on that
but I really just trying to get this chassis right first

sorry, but 70s to 80s is low compression. the no-start condition probably revolves mostly around that. how trustworthy was the gauge and the process you used (enough RPM? etc)
the only other thing that jumps out readily is the dead tach. that might indicate a dead/dying trailing coil pack. are you getting spark (at the plugs) from any of them - leading or trailing?
gauges: have you checked the meter fuse again?

and from what everyone tells me, in a rebuild using good used parts, but new seals 80 is good for something that hasnt been broken in, it should AT LEAST run better than it does, all the engine does is flood itself.
and yeah checked spark
I originally thought of posting it here, but the sub forums all said non technical, so since im still a newb, I posted to the newb place

Sorry to say it to me it sound like you have some massive "old car electrical gremlins" going on. Brittle wiring is common for these cars and to be having so many issues which are not localized to one harness, that's where I would start.
