Unhappy (I hate to do this) Please Help me guys!!!

Okay i know we've all seen a lot of threads about cars not starting, well i hate to do this but here is another one.

My car won't start. The battery isn't dead, everything else still works, but when i go to turn her over there's nothing. not even a little crank. I checked all the wires going to like my plugs and starter, they're alright, no fraying or anything. All my fuses are okay. I was thinking either my starter went or for some reason when i push my clutch in the car doesn't know it's in.

I was wondering what wire can i cut to disable the clutch-in starting. i thought this might help, since when the clutch is in and i turn the key it's acting like the clutch isn't in. I don't know if i'm making any sense, sorry. I just want to know what wire to cut, and maybe some prices on a starter. yeah.... something like that.

It could be your starter and/or relay. you would have to take off the starter and take it to an auto parts stor that can check it for you
but...
I had this problem once, it was intermittant. I thought it may have been my switch so I took off all of the plastic around the steering colum. I noticed that the hot wire had power when the switch was in the off position but when I turned it to on or acc it droped to .2 volts!. I tried everything to fix it. but it was intermittant so I could never trak it down. I think it finally stopped when I changed my battery posts. at that time I had those gold plated brass ones they sell in car stereo shops. and I think one of the wires was not in very good.
So I would recomend this, take off your battery posts and change to new ones. use electrical contact cleaner you can get from most auto parts stors or radio shack. scrape and clean the ends of your wires before you put them on the new posts. don't use that crap you can put on the batt posts to prevent corosion. the only thig I would ever use is the little "washer" type things. but I never use anything. of course gold dosn't corode.
You may want to check your key switch to see if you have this problem
good luck

Hey thanks guys. My car is running for now. My friends got it going giving it a push start. It is believed that my starter and flywheel got frozen and stuck. So i have a bad spot on my starter. Oh well, i need one anyways. Know where i can get a good one for a decent price???

I don't know what color the wires are, but if you look under the dash you will see the clutch switch. Just unplug it. If that doesnt work hook the wires together. Its been so long since I disabled mine I forgot how...

Hey Jessica, before you go through all the trouble of replacing the starter, may I make a few suggestions? You mentioned that the starter made no noise at all. If the starter were stuck and/or it was jamming on the flywheel, there would be at least a clunk noise as the solenoid slammed the starter gear forward into the flywheel. You mentioned there was no noise, so if there is a starter failure, it would have to be the starter solenoid. These, however, rarely fail. To check it out, meter the black/white stripe wire on the starter solenoid for 12V. If it is there, you are correct, you need a new starter. If, as I suspect, it isn't there, a problem exists in the circuit that supplies this voltage to the starter. To diagnose, here are the things to try:
Check the fuse in the leftmost position second row down in the fusebox. Replace if blown, if it blows again fix the short.
Jumper the Clutch Interlock switch. It is the switch in front of the clutch (nearest to the firewall), just disconnect the switch and put a jumper wire on the plug you just disconnected the switch from.
If this doesn't help, you need to check the starter cut relay behind the trailing ignition coils. Check the light green/yellow stripe wire. When trying to start, you should have less than 2 volts there. If you have 12V, your theft deterrent unit is the problem. You can bypass the unit by grounding this wire, and all should be fine. If the voltage is correct, check the black/white stripe wire for 12V. when trying to start. If the voltage is not there, and the black/green stripe wire does have 12V, you have a bad starter cut relay. Replace it. If the voltage was fine, you have a broken wire someplace between the relay and the starter. Find and fix. If, when checking the black/green stripe wire, you have no voltage there, then you have a malfunction in your ignition switch/wiring. You will need to track down and fix this.

Anyway, if this avoids you having to replace a perfectly good starter, good. If the starter was bad all along, Never Mind!!! Lemme know if you have any further questions on all this rigmarole. Good Luck!

In my case it was as simple as worn brushes on the starter motor - sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't - rebuild or hit the wrecker for a $50 replacement.

Yeah, it's definately the starter. about a month back i had really bad starting problems and i think i wore it out. I checked the wiring kinda it looks all okay, but i don't have a volt meter thingy. Sokay, i already have a new/used starter coming my way.

Thanks everyone!
