CO I found a 86, with no sunroof.

I found this red rx7, with no engine. The thing I found very interesting is that when he sent me pics, I found out it has no sunroof, I thought all fc's except for gtus came with sunroof standard

what do you guys think?

86 Sport also did not have a sunroof. I always keep my eyes open for them.

More headroom, you never have to clean/ maintain the sunroof mechanism, and no possibility of leaks or plugged up sunroof drains. The little bit of extra headroom is the best part

Reducing the weight at the highest point in the car yields a lower center of gravity. For Racing/AutoX etc.

I personally love my sunroof Adds a lot to the looks of the car and is great for the summer. I'm only 5'11" so the headroom is not an issue.

I would love to have an FC without a sunroof though for racing.

I knew about all the other benefits of not having a sunroof, but the added headroom makes it sweeter, I'm 6'4'' lol and could use a bit of clearance. this guy is selling the car for $800, I guess it's a good deal, I'm just worried about the rust, he says it has a very small spot. I paid $650 for the one I have now, it's rust free. Too bad they are getting harder to find in good shape.

I've never been a fan of sunroofs. I wish my cars didn't have them. Fortunately they aren't verts. I can't stand verts! That's one RX-7 version that should have never existed.

**** sunroofs. I'd much rather have the headroom, less weight, stiffer chassis etc etc etc. I use mine, but only because I might as well since it's there. I'm gonna have to modify my whole ******* seat brackets to have headroom for racing, it's not even particularly safe for street driving because my head's so close.

Did not know you could get a sport with a sunroof, but eh, it figures that it was an option. The more you know...

in a coupe i don't like the sunroofs cause they never worked and now they are rusty too

I overcame the extra weight of my sunroof by building a more powerful car

Also, 87's, and I believe some 88's came without them.

I like the sunroof, its not hard to get it working properly. I can see the advantages of not having one either though.

I have a sunroof less s4 and a sunroof s4, the main thing I like about the sunroof-less is its a bit rare. Otherwise I'd take the sunroof model gladly over that.

I agree about the verts though. I miss having a vert.

I like the sunroof for a car i drive regularly, but for a race only platform I prefer to start with a chassis that didn't have the sunroof.

I had a base model '88 that had no sunroof. It must have been an option depending on what you ordered. Here in Canada a lot of the base model fc's don't have sunroofs.

I'm 6'3" and the lack of headroom in a sunroof equipped car was a deciding factor in my decision to not buy it, despite the sweet end of year price back in '87. I bought my '87 used in '88 (no sunroof). I always thought the open top looked like hell anyway.
