You can probably rent some from your local parts store.

either rent it from an autozone type company, or buy you a set from harbour freight for like 7 bucks....even if you only get to use them 5 times they were only 7 bucks lol.

Spring compressors are mandatory for changing springs or struts.

Failure to use a good solid spring compressor has resulted in deaths and serious injury.

Springs are not something that you can mickey mouse with vise grips or C -clamps

What kind of springs are they? I have never needed spring compressors to put aftermarket (anything stiffer than stock) that are intended to lower the car more than 3/4" on an FC with stock style dampers and springs..... they were all shorter enough that they allow 3-4 threads of the shock shaft exposed enough to get the nut on.... i did two sets of racing beat springs this way.

Now taking stock springs off. That requires spring compressors. Ive done it without but i wouldnt recomend it to anyone else. Dont try this at home, etc...

I also 2nd the rent-em idea.

I myself own a pair now because it is the only thing to use when you do need them.

You can also do it by putting a floor jack under the ball joint on the lower control arm and slowly lowering the jack. It doesn't scratch the springs like some spring compressors do.

From: Kissimmee Fl,
u can cut the spring while its still mounted in the car and then take ito ut in peices. or u can put a breaker bar with a socket on the top nut and face the spring towards a far away wall and let it shoot. ive done all these but i DO NOT recommend anybody doin it this way. i jus did it cuz it was like 2 a.m and i wanted to be done already.

What? That doesn't make sense at all. What did you tell them?

They have the tool there to rent. If you walk in the door and say "I need a spring compression loan-a-tool" johnny redshirt will walk in the back and get it for you, charge you $41 (which you will all get back when you return it) and you will be on your happy little way.

If you can't figure this out, maybe you shouldn't touch your car at all.

Shaolin is correct on that one. Clerk asked for a deposit, which I got back at the end of the day anyway? Seriously I don't know why they wouldn't let you borrow one? Makes no sense to me?

Been there before, done that. Worked for me.

But, go to the Harbour Freight and buy one like was mentioned in a post above. You will now OWN it and be able to use it later in life on another car. Just make sure the steel in it wan't made during MAO's Great Leap Forward, where everybody had a miniature furnace in the backyard making *steel*. Little history lesson there. True story. MAO....one sorry piece of **** person. Sub human piece of ****.
