I did a air pump delete
I did a air pump delete and got new exhaust system on my 1989 GTU, and I got a check engine light. 11, 30, and 33 were the codes I got and they are related to the air pump. I wanted to know if I need to jumper the air pump connectors or disconnect a solinoid to get the check engine light out? Or should I invest in a aftermarket ECU?
Definitely do not jump those connectors unless the jumpers you make match the resistance and wattage of the parts that you got rid of. If you don't and do a straight jumper, you will allow too much current through those circuits and start burning your ECU up (in the blackened circuit board sense). A little bit of resistance still makes for a big deal. The 30 and 33 codes will only display when you have the ECU in diagnostic mode. When it's not grounded, the ECU won't throw those up on the dash. That's the way I've had mine, since it lets me know the diagnostic part is working, and it doesn't show up when I'm driving. The 11 code is your intake air thermosensor up on top right before the throttle body. Plug it back in or fix it and it should take care of the CEL for as far as you need to be concerned.
