I bought a 90 vert tonight!

Hi. I'm the new guy here. I had an 86 rx7 about 8 years ago, but the engine died. I vowed that someday I would get another rx7, and I did. This was the best thing I could have done. I got a 90 red convertible for 2 grand. I couldn't believe it when I walked out with it for that cheap. Yeah it needs a few things (convertible top especially) but who cares. It runs awesome and it's pretty clean. I can't wipe this stupid grin off my face. It's funny ya know, cause I was so close to buying a s2000 this weekend, but I wanted to try out the old rx7 for 1/10th the price and see if I still liked it. In the words of Homer Simpson...."mmmmm rotary."

Welcome to the heavy azz but fun as hell drop top rotor club, man! I love the hell out of mine and don't regret losing my 2000 nissan crew cab (or the payments!) to get her.

Enjoy!

Talking

Congratulations!

I am an original 1987 Rx7 Sport owner (17yrs). It has 177K miles on it. Always kept in a garage and maintained. The blue exterior paint is fading. So, I need a respray. I have been looking for a replacement car that handles and has better performance and reliability, than my Rx7 under $40K . . . there's nothing. The 350z comes close, but it is an understeerer and has too many problems, based on owner forums. Guess that I'll keep the Rx7 and keep looking.

Too bad about the "family sedan" under performer Rx8. I was hoping that it would be a good replacement. Wrong.

Congrats again!!!!

I know how you feel, I bought my 88 Vert for $1200 - it also needed a top, and a few other things (Tires, tuneup, etc) but in my case working on the car is half the fun of owning it - I just recently replaced the clutch. Never done one before and it took me awhile since I was in no big hurry and the satisfaction on doing a repair like that myself can't be beat! Hope your vert gives you the same enjoyment I get from mine.

Chuck

This might stir you up a bit.... I was at the Mazda dealer last weekend and the sales manager told me that Mazda is in the process of making a 2 seater convertible with a turbo! And it's not going to be called the rx8, it'll be called the rx7 again. He may be full of it, but he had some good details. Like how the price will be around 40k.
