I am hearing noises.......
Ok today I as I was leaving for school I heard some wierd noises from the tranny. It is hard to dercribe but kinda like bearings that are worn out. Is there any way to check the tranny without pulling it? I also hear some noises now from the right side tires/brakes not sure what yet but like metal is rubbing as the wheels turn high pitched too. Any ideas as to what it could be?
Thanx

id like to know what you figure out from your tranny problem, so im gonna keep an eye on this thread..
as for the wheel metal on metal sound, thats usually the brake wear indicator making noise so that you know "HEY - time for new brake pads!"

I'm running some Valvoline 90WT, was pretty cheap, smells horrible, and did the job good. Took quite a while to pump it in there, and man that smell made me naucious, but ahh well!

When you check your pads, front and rear, check pistons to be sure they move freely in the caliper bore. If they are "stuck", or take a great deal of pressure to push the front pistons in, especially the lower ones, or requires extra effort to turn the rear pistons in....Time for a rebuild.
I would change trans fluid if it hasn't been done for a while, then just drive it until it gets worse and you need a rebuild, or trans change. Haven't really seen changing of fluid quiet down bearing noise, as long as there was enough fluid in the trans before the change..

I've got a turbo tranny, took more than the NA tranny, and it was so long ago, I think i used 5 and a half for mine, check the FSM, I don't remember exactly. I'd rather buy new calipers than trust ones I rebuilt. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I've had a phobia of brake parts ever since my damn base failed me!

Where would the best source of NEW calipers be?? I checked mazdatrix and they are going for 404 UDS plus shipping I think I might want to try rebuilding them. Unless I can find a better price. I am low on funds right now guys. I need to get a second job but school inhibits this

aftermarket...regular auto parts store or a wholesale supplier. maybe like www.carparts.com much cheaper...not OEM mazda, they should be quality rebuilds.

Wow, as I said, I did it quite a long time ago and I didn't remember, which was why i suggested checking the FSM, and upon inspection it's about 2.5 (wow was I off!)

Ok when I left school I noticed that when I am sliping the clutch I hear that noise. My clutch does not slip at all what could it be?? I recently relpaced the slave cylinder and clutch line with the one from corksport. Could this have been the cause of this noise? I hear it in when sliping the clutch in first and second gears but in third and higher I can't hear because of the wind and duals . What should I check? I will have half the day tommorow can i check anything in about 7-8 hours?

lol
take it to a mechanic you trust and let them hear it..
keyword - TRUST
rx7 trannys are the same as any other tranny in structure, so just because it's a rotary engine doesnt mean theres special rules for the tranny.. so a diagnosis from your trusted piston mechanic would likely be a valid one
