Hylomar question: How do you get it off a machine surface?
I got it stuck to the machine surface where the rotor side seals will be traveling (long story). How do I clean it off? There isn't any sort of cleaning instructions on the packaging.

The mystery of the prize.
if this happens during engine assembly some people just leave the hylomar on the surface though their intention is to get it in the groove for holding the water seals in place.
Lighter fluid / carb cleaner will work but will want to run, you probably don't want to have these fluids in the groove with the hylomar during assembly. A simple way to remove the hylomar from the surface while leaving it in the groove is to just run over the surface with a razor blade. The razor blade approach turns this:
into this:
In little time.

I was going to say razor blade too.
Be careful how you use it though... as soon as you feel it catch on something throw it away and use another one... if you don't apply too much pressure it won't develope a nick but if you do the edge of the groove bends the metal a little on the razor and then you have something that easily nicks and damages the surface.
But it's the best way to clean off the surface.
